7 Days In Havana review

A seven-tale Cuba-set anthology

Despite an impressive roll-call of talent, this seven-tale Cuba-set anthology never strays far from touristy clichés.

Take the opener directed by Benicio Del Toro, in which naïve traveller Josh Hutcherson experiences a wild, rum-fuelled eve that takes in crumbling tenements, Latin beats and a transvestite mix-up.

One wryly comic segment sees filmmaker Emir Kusturica on a bender, collecting a Havana Film Festival award before splitting for a trumpet session with his driver. But even Gaspar Noé’s attempts to titillate – a teen-lesbian exorcism – don’t linger long.
