It even beat the mighty Age of Conan which has come in as a new entry at number 13.

Wilson notes that not all games will be affected by insufficient retail space. "Clearly, the end-of-year squeeze creates limited space at retail, which limits the size of initial orders of games with less publicity and reorders of games with lower quality." He anticipates games with high preorder rates such as Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4, Assassins' Creed, Mass Effect, WWE, and Rock Band to be less affected by insufficient retail space. "Titles that could be at risk of getting squeezed," he continues, "include Haze, Kane & Lynch, and Uncharted."
Korn, in a buzz of extra-curricular activity, has written an exclusive track for Free Radical's forthcoming FPS Haze. Yes, Korn the rock band. No, theyre not dead.

Korn's track is to air on the radio waves and video next month, to coincide with the launch of Haze on PS3. You'll be able to buy the track from online music download sites, too. We havent heard the tune yet, but theres evidence of lots of Korn hair.

"Gaming for me is a religion and Haze is the shit!" said Jonathan ...

The move comes as a bid to avoid the pitfalls that other developers fall into when it comes to crunch and overworking staff with no recompense.
Spong: Right now, Haze is exclusive for Christmas (News)

Haze-related news, rumor and speculation have been doing the Internet-rounds over the weekend regarding the fact that the game is a PS3-exclusive. You may recall Spong's coverage of Sony exclusives as mentioned at E3 in which Haze was pegged as PS3-only at least until the end of the year.

This - plus comments made a Leipzig, plus the fact that all mention of any other platforms has been removed from Free Radical's Haze web-pages - has apparently lead to the conclusion that the game will be PS3 exclusive.

So, Spong spoke to a representative at Ubisoft who spoke slowly and clearly to Spong, explaining, "Basically at E3 it was announced that the game would be PS3 exclusive for Christmas. That's where we stand - other platforms have not been ruled out but nothing has been confirmed."

Therefore, right now Haze is exclusive until Christmas... and then might or might not be.

Free Radical has released new info on the way that the players can kill their enemies...

1. Nectar Grenade: By ripping the Nectar pack off the back of a dead soldier, you can strap it onto a grenade. When it goes off, the cloud of yellow gas will make any Mantel trooper in the vicinity overdose.

2. Nectar Knife: When you make a Nectar Grenade, you can smear the stuff on the blade of your knife. So, if you melee or throw it at someone, they'll overdose.

3. Nectar Pack Shot: The round yellow disc on the back on each Mantel trooper is his Nectar Pack. It's tricky, but if you can get a clear shot or melee it, you'll make it malfunction and pump too much Nectar into the poor bad guy's bloodstream ¿ another overdose situation.

Whilst games frequently pin their appeal on either the story or the gameplay, it's pretty rare for something to come along that does both. Haze, the new first person shooter from Free Radical Design, is due out on PS3 at the end of this year and looks like it might just do it.
Free Radical is concerned about Haze. With the developer's much-quoted leanings toward more mature gaming, challenging censorship boundaries and raging against monkeys, it's worried that we might be forgetting to ask some important questions.

What about leading man Shane Carpenter's defection halfway through the game? And what impact does his switch of sides, from super-tech Mantel Corp. army to rebel force The Promise Hand, have on the gameplay? We've been shipped up to Free ...
Designed as a multiplayer experience first and foremost, the developer's sent over new screens that show you what to expect from the multiplayer game, which the team has big plans for.

Here's the latest footage of Haze, Free Radical's new PS3/360 FPS franchise, which should help shake you out of your shooter stupor and see what's really going on out there.

The outline of the game's enigmatic plot has long been known, centering on corporate-lapdog troops employed by the sinister Mantel Global Industries, who are kept in a good-doggy fog through the use of mind-controlling chemicals.

And now, thanks to the trailer below, we can put a name and face to the lead character ...

At Haze website there is no Xbox logo, only PS3.

Ubisoft has pulled the release dates issued earlier this week for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Haze, stating that the game is only confirmed for PS3.

"Haze is only confirmed for the PS3. Neither PC or Xbox 360 are confirmed platform releases," the company said.

"Officially Haze is a PS3 lead development, PC and 360 versions are not confirmed at this time. There was an error in a release schedule which went out, which is causing a lot of confusion right now."

In particular we get to see some of the four-player ...
And he's so sick of people asking him "but where are the monkeys?" that he's felt moved to speak out and set the record straight.

"There will be no damn monkeys in HAZE," Littlewood roars in an amusing column he's written for our friends at UK Xbox World 360 magazine. He goes on: "Not one. Not even a cute little zombified one. Or a robot one. Or ...
Which is pretty f***ing bizarre!" Yescombe told Eurogamer during one of his Haze presentations at UbiDays last month.

"So what we're looking at with Haze thematically is, how are we presenting war as entertainment in videogames? Because, war isn't just black and white and good and evil; there's ambiguity."

Premiered at last years' E3, Free Radical's Haze caused quite a bit of buzz at the event. Coming from a developer with a rich FPS pedigree, with such games as GoldenEye, TimeSplitters and Second Sight on their resume, and originally billed as a squad-based first-person shooter, everything about Haze went silent after last year's big show. That is until just a few weeks ago, when Ubisoft held its perennial pre-E3 event, dubbed UbiDays.

GI got a few moments with Free Radical's Creative Director David Doak to find out everything that has changed with the game and to see what they have in store for gamers when the game is released for the PlayStation 3 this holiday.

Sony ps3 fans request haze to be Exclusive. Now, the reasons for his request for exclusivity seem a bit weak. They believe that it has to be an exclusive if it is to become a Halo 3 killer. Additional reasons that he points to are Blu-Ray, which holds 50GB of data, and the PS3's processing power. They are afraid that it might be dumbed down due to the 10GB constraints of the Xbox 360 and PC.
Since Haze was announced, the TimeSplitters team's next-gen debut has been firmly kept under wraps. Leading on PS3 but also in development for Xbox 360 and PC, Haze is trying to bring with it a strong story to the world where just shooting stuff up is what it's all about.

At Ubisoft's recent press event in Paris Free Radical's main man Dave Doak was on hand to walk us through the finely-textured jungles and tell us what Nectar is all ...
At Ubisoft's recent press event, Haze developer Free Radical told us the game is in development for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and not just PS3 as has been reported.

During the Haze section of the Ubidays conference, the impressive-looking shooter was unveiled for the PS3 with no other systems mentioned.

Haze was originally announced for all three systems in 2006 but the lack of any other system being mentioned for over a year, and the fact that the TimeSplitters team has a massive PlayStation ...

This isn't the case though. During an exclusive interview Free Radical's Dave Doak told CVG that while the game is leading on PS3 there are also Xbox 360 and PC versions coming. Doak added that the team hasn't had any major issues developing for Sony's machine either.
The honeycombed body armor of the biologically enhanced guns for hire in Haze didn't exactly excite us at first glance. After all, their bee-like design looks better suited for pumping up cereal with some nutritionally balanced breakfast fun than putting a sting on sinister international conspiracies.

But despite the somewhat silly looking character design, Haze sports what promises to be a chilling and mature story. The game throws you in the shoes of Shane Carpenter, a soldier of fortune ...

Jeuxvideo reports that at the Ubisoft conference, Haze, the FPS developed in the studios of Free Radical, will be exclusive to the Playstation 3.

For the moment though, it appears that this is most likely going to be a timed exclusive. But it will be necessary to wait tomorrow more on this subject.

Concerning the play in itself, the developers showed a new trailer and explained the scenario: Mantel is a group which controls the world, the oil industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Mantel also produces a very powerful drug.

The game is due out this year.
Critically acclaimed developer Free Radical, creator of TimeSplitters and now the murky future-shooter Haze, believes that next-gen games should push us into new, mature territory, and that devs should be looking "beyond the technology" and instead focus on changing what it means and feels like to play videogames.

Using Bungie's blastacular Halo 3 as an example, Haze scriptwriter Rob Yescombe believes that "while Halo is brilliant, you're a teenager - the next-gen is about becoming more ...

According to GameFront, Haze runs on its own engine at a framerate of 30 fps. Loading times and "intermediate sequences" are supposedly nonexistent. It has four gameplay modes: online, offline, LAN, and split-screen.

In single player, team members will be controlled completely by the computer. The main character seems to have undergone a name change. While he was referred to as Jake Carpenter in previous interviews, the GameFront post mentions him as "Shan" Carpenter.

Listed in the article are also some of the weapons and gear that will be available in the game.

Haze is slated for a multiplatform release on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. A specific release date has yet to be announced.
