Despite appearances - specifically the vehicles, the character classes, and the open maps - this is not an attempt to make a sci-fi version of Battlefield. Nor is it, despite the name, much to do with the deathmatch tradition of Quake. It's therefore perfectly possible that fans of either of those series will be disappointed. ...

The list contains 50 achievements for a grand total of 1000 points. Included in the list, you'll have to go through 4 campaigns on 3 difficulties apiece. Hopefully these stack, so if you play through on hard, you'll also unlock medium and easy. Otherwise, you'll have to play through 12 campaigns total. For the entire list of achievements, hit the jump.

This is one of those times where everyone just turned around and went, "wait...where'd that game go?" It's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and while we heard a whole lot about this promising title late last year, it mysteriously dropped off the radar for a few months.

Well, it's back. According to IGN, Activision has finally revealed a release date for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of this promising shooter: it'll hit stores on May 30. The PC version has already been available for quite some time now, so console players have been itching to get their hands on it. If you're not too familiar with the game (heck, you might've forgotten), here's a brief description:

"Experience the ultimate team and mission-based online warfare, defined by the acclaimed Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, now set in the legendary QUAKE universe. Choose to play as the human Global Defense Forces or the invading alien menace, the Strogg. Each side has distinct classes, vehicles, and weapons to choose from, giving players countless ways to join the battle."

With all the enemies, vehicles, and interesting terrain present in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, this could be one of the best console titles of 2008. Of course, the competition will be stiff...but then again, it's always stiff these days. Head back our way again at the end of May to check out our review.

That's according to Greg Stone, designer at Nerve Software, the company handling the 360 conversion.

However, nobody's sure whether they will launch before or after the game appears in shops this summer.
The ports of the Splash Damage-id Software PC multiplayer shooter were announced a year ago by Activision and a playable version of the Xbox 360 port was shown at both E3 as well as QuakeCon in the summer of 2007.

Splash Damage's next update for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will include a training mode to ease new players into the multiplayer action.

"The single greatest hurdle to ensuring great game-play online is getting new players to understand the basics of team-play, and the subsequent amazing buzz that comes from coordination," the developer says of the upcoming 1.4 update.

"The new Training Mode helps achieves this by teaching new players how to make effective use of the Mission ...
Splash Damage is busy working on a demo of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on PC and plans to release it in the middle of September.

In a post on the game's community website, the developer also spoke about support for the multiplayer shooter after it releases.

"Our first goal after completing the game's demo... will be to watch closely and address any issues that come up in the first few weeks after the game's release.

With the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Public Beta approaching, Community of EnemyTerritory.com have a few more bits of information about how the whole thing is organized, how you will be able to get your key, and, most importantly, when key distribution will actually start.

First off, There's some concern that most of the 60,000 Public Beta slots will go to FilePlanet subscribers - this is not the case. In fact, the keys are split right down the middle, with half going to subscribers and the other half to people with free FilePlanet accounts.

ETQW Public Beta client will not work without a valid beta key so the clients that are already on the net are rather useless.
PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers anticipating the release of multiplayer shooter Enemy Territory: Quake Wars should now be looking at the period July to September 2007 for its touchdown.

Activision bosses said they expect July-September to be the new release window for the game at a conference call with investors yesterday.

But whether it'll actually hit during this period... Well, that's the question, as with id Software involved Quake Wars won't be out til it's damn good and ready. Still, if we ...
A new three-minute-long movie focusing on the splendid Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on PC is throwing a wealth of Strogg vs. GDF gameplay action in our faces. Point eyes right to our video player for the glory.

In addition to the gameplay, the trailer features comments on the game from id Software's Kevin Cloud and Splash Damage's Paul Wedgwood. Splash Damage worked on Quake Wars' spiritual predecessor Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Wegdwood says the trailer that "The hardest thing about ...
After being coerced by our crack interviewer, Splash Damage boss and Lead Designer Paul Wedgwood has explained the lack of cross-platform play in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

"It was never a focus of the game's design," he explains. "We didn't start off a couple of years ago thinking 'we have to have players on the PC play against players on the Xbox,' for example.

"At this stage in console development I think there's too much disparity between the player on a analog controller and the player ...
Tucked in between a supermarket lies Splash Damage, the up and coming developer behind the brilliant id Battlefield-beater Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

And tucked in between the kitchen and rigged-up testing room lies lead designer and founder Paul Wedgwood, whom we sat down with to find out more about the upcoming Stroggified shooter.

The obvious question is why has it taken so long to get Quake Wars out the door?

Wedgwood: The first thing to bare in mind is that it is a brand new title so ...
id Software has significant plans for its Enemy Territory series judging by the words spilling out its mouth during a recent interview on the forthcoming Quake Wars.

Quite where a new Enemy Territory would be set is open to speculation - Cloud didn't go into specifics - but there's already a number of ideas bouncing around ...
