Why are you more excited for the PS4 than the Xbox One?

Holy crap! The PS4 launch date is seriously only days away (you can read our PS4 review right now). You can already feel that beautiful new DualShock 4 controller in your hands, and you are mentally prepared to watch all those particle effects shower over your screen. You purchased your most anticipated launch title and can't wait to cram it into your sleek new system. Which begs the question…

Why are you more excited for the PS4 than the Xbox One?

I'm more excited for the PS4 only because PS Plus is so damn good. Plus yanked me over from being team MS to team Sony right quick. I know MS will start doing the free game thing too, but I don't think they'll be as generous as Sony has been. I have a vita with over 10 games and haven't paid for a single one so far.

I'm getting both...and I am not more excited for the PS4...so this article is dumb...I'm much more excited for my XB1...as a matter of fact...I'm going to try to sell my PS4 for enough to get my money back and get my XB1 for free...I guess that can make me excited for PS4...

I'm more excited right now because I get my PS4 on this week, and I have to wait until next Friday before my Xbox One shows up. That's really all.

For me, who has been primarily a Xbox gamer for the last two generations, it comes down to which console do I want to invest in for the next 8 years. Looking at it purely objectively, I want the most powerful system for the price. My biggest interest is the multiplatform games, as that's where the bulk of my gaming has been for the last decade, and which system will these multiplatforms look better in. If all things were equal, price and power, I would have chosen the Xbox One as default. Personally, I wouldn't have mind paying $500 if the Xbox One was more powerful than the PS4. But that isn't the case, Xbox One is $500 and is less powerful by any objective measure. Furthermore, the features that they do have, like HDMI-in and Kinect don't appeal to me. I don't have cable anymore and I look at the Kinect as more a negative than a positive. One thing that will be a big negative of switching to PS4 is that most of my friends are on XBL. But the way I see it, most of my casual friends won't be paying $400-500 for a new console anyway, if the few core gamer friends switch to the PS4 then the entire herd will eventually move more as well.

That's a rather odd question Greg. Shouldn't it be "are you more excited for the PS4 or Xbox One?", because the way you've phrased it now a large proportion of the audience could just say "I'm not". Not me though, I don't give a s*** about either of them right now. I'm getting a new PC in January. I'll wait for some actual must-have games and a price drop before I take the plunge.

Exactly how I felt about the title...I'm more excited for XB1...so basically my answer was...I'm not, just like you said, lol...I love pc gaming too so I can't argue with your call there, haha

It's just one of those "gut feeling" things. PS4 feels like it going to focus more on games rather than try to be the all-in-one box MS promised way back when the Xbox 1 (not one) launched. That, and Playstation Plus. The very best thing about the PS3. I have sooooo many games fro the PS3 and vita because of it. Good value.

More interesting games. Less of those "going to use once just to see" features. SONY isn't forcing me to pay for something I don't want and they know more about what gamers want, clearly proven in the past year. That should cover why I'm more excited, although I probably could mention more.
  • chad-munn - November 12, 2013 11 p.m.

I'm not. The PS4 has less features, less interesting games at launch (and in the immediate future) and I'm still not over the burn I felt after the PS3 experience. I'm going Xbox this gen- and I wish Sony well. I may pick up a PS4 someday, but it's not anytime soon. Get the Uncharted's and the Last of Us' out there and I'll venture back.
  • matthew-stoddard - November 13, 2013 6:01 p.m.

Exactly!!! The only games I care about playing for PS is Uncharted and The Last of Us...XB has way better exclusives coming

Greg you stole that HHOOOOO from Lucas didnt you? Anyway,Getting an Xbox one, my brother wants it more especially after they dropped the 180 shenanigans (To which his only concern from the strict rules was having to check in every 24 hours, which is bullshit) Plus Killer Instinct and basically since we were already used to the 360 we might as well stick with it. Im still gonna leech off my friend with his eventual PS4 like i did with his PS3 though :3

This time i am going for the sony ps4 after being a long time xbox gamer i feel ms have screwed up from the start with the xbone {which i had preordered now cancelled!} and i have been reading lots of articles on the web such as framegate on xbone ,games such as dead rising very poor programing rushed job,etc i hope ms can sort out this mess because we need two diffrent platforms to give us customers choices roll on launch day......
  • braden-draude - November 12, 2013 11:08 p.m.

I did te exact same thing! Xbone still has fixed alot of its flaws but if you try to screw your customers and then say "just kidding" you are still going to scare some future buyers away!
  • raveryn - November 13, 2013 5:36 a.m.

I did the same thing. But I'm beyond pissed that neither plays 3D blu-rays.
  • udUbdaWgz - November 12, 2013 9:22 p.m.

i am thankful that i realize that neither console is worth buying at this point in time, unlike, past generations. "next gen" games don't happen with the advent of new console technology. it happens when devs/pubs start showing some intellectual creativity and start releasing games with innovation. graphics and specs don't matter. instead, i'll be stocking my 360 library and let each company and the devs/pubs prove themselves over time by having pro-gamer/consumer policies and better games.

I'm in India? And when is the Indian launch date! NOT ANNOUNCED!
  • Shigeruken - November 12, 2013 7:04 p.m.

I'm equally interested in Halo and Naughty Dog games, but because I speak Japanese quite fluently I'm looking forward to quite a lot of Japan exclusive titles like the new Gundam game. For me the PS4 would have a lot more variety than the Xbox One. Having said that, I don't currently plan to purchase either console.
  • The Feral One - November 13, 2013 7:24 a.m.

....New Gundam game, ya say? I was already leaning toward ps4 first; but if there's a new gundam game; well, that means there's a chance I'll see it over here one day, and I just can't pass that up. That said, I will be getting both eventually; and a Wii U. The only thing Xbox is offering me in the near future of interest is Titanfall. (And yes; I am aware that I'm a sucker for giant robots :P) I could not give less of a crap about all the special features these companies wanna add.. I just want to game; and if Sony makes good on their promise to be game-centric, then, that's a winner right there.
  • Shigeruken - November 13, 2013 10:39 p.m.

Yeah I'm the same when it comes to giant robots haha. And the useless features I wont even touch, most of which wont be available here in NZ. In regards to a localized Gundam game, I think that will happen eventually for sure. There were a few towards the beginning of the PS3's lifespan that were localized fairly quickly, and now that Sony is more aware of their audience I think they'll be encouraging a lot of Japanese developers to localize games. (At least when it comes to giant robots and other already popular franchises).

PS4 because of naughty dog and insomniac and those kind of guys. Also because MS was a dick.
