The Spartan Laser in Halo would have to be my favorite, but I also love the lancer, gravity gun, the ACR during the period that I played COD:MW2, the M416 and AK-74u in BF3 and BC2, the rocket launcher, needle rifle, DMR, scoped pistol, and battle rifle from Halo, the Augur in Resistance, the Sniper rifle and Seeker in Singularity, and the Gewehr 43 in COD WaW.

I would have to say the magnum from Halo 2 or the ray gun from World at War/Black Ops. The rush of excitement you get from getting the ray gun from the mystery box is great.

A couple have popped in my head... Auger from the Resistance games/Mag Rail from Goldeneye Rogue agent Because f*ck guys taking cover Fatman from Fallout (or even better, the MIRV) Does it technically count as a gun? It shoots miniature nuclear bombs. It is frighteningly fun to obliterate things with it. But I think my favorite might be the Chicago Typewriter from RE4. Shoots fast accurately, hits hard, and infinite ammo. Nough said.

Crap, I forgot to mention BFG 9000 from Doom Nothing worked better for clearing a room.

the shark gun from armed and dangerous

    Portal Gun. Duh.

Mine is an obscure one: the Phase Rifle from Conduit 2. It's a sniper rifle that can shoot through stuff. Like it can literally kill enemies from behind walls.

The Cerebral Bore from Turok on the N64

Any and all guns from the Borderland series. I mean come on, some of those guns shot stuff that make you think "I want that gun!!!"

No RC-P90 from Goldeneye. I am disappoint. It had the largest magazine capacity in the game (80 rounds), was extremely accurate, fired nearly 13 rounds per second, and was able to pierce doors. Dual-wielding this baby was empowering. Still, even sans RC-P90 this is a good list.

Oh were to begin! There's just so many guns that I know and love, kicking it off there's my two favourite tf2 weapons the black box and the huntsman both massively different in play style and rage inducing to others in their own right. There's the quake rail gun differently nuanced in each iteration of the franchise. Or possibly the standard (yellow) rifle from jack 3 the one with the bouncing bullets where if you jumped span and shot pretty much everything in the room died, friendly or foe. I also must not forget the needler, a gun with which I had a love affair with since before it's buff in halo 3 when it was a weapon only used by fools.

.223 Pistol from Fallout 1. Mostly for sentimental reasons. Oh the days where I blew off the heads of deathclaws <3
  • garnsr - December 11, 2012 2:49 p.m.

The Sheepinator from whichever Ratchet and Clank game that was. The transforming guns were all cool, but turning baddies into sheep was the best, and you end up with a battlefield littered with critters.

Glad to see Henry pointing to old faithful in Goldeneye. I would have gone golden gun or rocket launcher just because of the screaming sound the rockets made. Ah, memories.

Tied between 3, Perfect Dark: Laptop Gun, Decent clip size and the ammo was plentiful since you could get it from the CMP150 which was in EVERY mission in that game. And on top of that, its an auto turret too, no biggie. Just toss it on a wall or ceiling and lock the room down, that gun was essentially a free kill machine. Oh and you could possibly watch porn on it too. How many guns can you watch porn on? Perfect Dark: RCP-120, a futuristic upgraded version of the Goldeneye RCP90/P-90. Powerful, accurate as eff and just plain awesome. But the kicker is that it turns you invisible, at the cost of ammo. But still, it was an N64 game and I was F**KING INVISIBLE. Top that in an FPS, oh wait you cant because Im invisible. Deal with it. Lastly, Grand Theft Auto IV: TBoGT:AA12 with Explosive Rounds, why? Because if you were in a car attempting to run me over, I'd just warp the front of your car into an undrivable metal duck-face. Thats why.

The cracker launcher from SSBB. There is nothing like the immense satisfaction of decimating everyone around you with rapid-fire explosives.
  • SirNinja - December 11, 2012 1:37 p.m.

One of my favorites is still the Laptop Gun from Perfect Dark. In addition to being able to deploy it as a sentry gun that could stick to any wall or ceiling (an *unbelievably* cool feature back in 2000), it was one of the better guns in that game, period. Huge clip, had a decent scope, great accuracy, ammo for it was easy to find (as it used the same ammo as the guards' CMP150s), and it made an awesome firing sound. (And it's also a laptop!) Pound for pound one of the best guns in that game, and definitely one of the most memorable. 4-player splitscreen multiplayer matches with that thing were awesome. My friends could see where *I* was, but never where my sentry was...
  • nintendo365 - December 11, 2012 1:57 p.m.

DAMNIT, you took mine! Ok, if you call dibs on the Laptop Gun, then I have dibs on the RCP-120. COME AT ME.
  • StrayGator - December 11, 2012 1:37 p.m.

Oh, where do I begin... Doom's Chaingun: stopping power defined: high RoF + hitscan. lets you put the pressure like no other weapon and keep plasma ammo until necessary. UT's Flak Cannon - a shotgun on steroids. will gib whoever stands close enough. arc trajectory limits range but lends itself to trickshots. doubles as probably the most useful grenade launcher in the history of fps. Serious Sam's Rocket Launcher - or was is SS2? stupidly weak but quick, used for carpeting more than kabooming. Borderlands' 3-burst rifles - near sniper rifle power. controlled focused bursts raise your chance to nail headshots from afar without taking you out of your surroundings like sniper rifles do. too bad they're nowhere to be seen in BL2.

I knew coming into the article that The Lancer would appear fairly early on, and Cundy did not fail to deliver. I'd have to say that is my all-time favourite gun from any game, followed shortly after by Johnson from Shadows of the Damned, and pretty much every sniper rifle ever, but ESPECIALLY The Sniper's sniper. Because BEWM. headshot. Although, Now I think about it, there was something I really liekd about the realism of Bound in Blood's west-y guns. Still, disappointed that neither Johnson nor the portal gun made it onto the list...
