What are you playing this weekend? Weekened Spent 11/30

Now that most of the major releases for 2012 are on store shelves (save for Far Cry 3, which doesn't land in the US until next week), you have plenty of options as to what to play on your downtime. The GamesRadar office is enjoying this rest from nonstop AAA releases, but we're still busy trying to play as many games as possible before we decide on our Game of the Year winner. Over the past week we've all been grinding through top-tier shooters and indie games alike, seeing just how they all stack up against each other. This weekend will be a continuation of that for us.

What about you? Planning on finally digging into the games you bought during the Steam and Amazon Black Friday sales, or are you going to start clearing your backlog?

Persona 4 Golden and KoTOR2. 20 hours into golden and I still want more, pretty sure the game puts out pheromones to make me keep coming back. Meanwhile at the Legion of Star Wars, I can remember why I didn't like KoTOR2, it's a goddamned bug fest and the beginning is of the slow variety. This weekend has also let me reflect on the mistake I made of picking the GLORIOUS CORPORATE SPONSORED FREEDUMB of the New Conglomerate and their crappy guns.

Like many of you, my finals are coming up... Buuuuuuut until I'm at the point of cold sweats and grey hairs, I think I'll be procrastinating by way of Just Cause 2, FF13 - 2 and those damned Vanquish challenges... Oh, and maybe God Hard mode if I feel up to it. Yeeee...

Dishonored, probably a bit of FIFA 12 and maybe continue my hunt for the Borderlands 2 plat via Jimmy Jenkins, that *******.

Ohhhh man, time to finally play some more PlanetSide 2!!

Gotta finish up the story mode of Hitman: Absolution. If I finish early, I'll go back and finish up AC3. I'd really love to finish them both up before the new Skyrim DLC comes out (at which point I'll be dedicating my time to that), but that seems unlikely.

Finals for the next week and a half, so studying it is. Although that will be interrupted by dragonvale and Flow from the AppStore. The latter is ridiculously good at wasting my time.

Between Blops II, Halo 4, and my renewed subscription for SWTOR, I'll be busy. So far, SWTOR is taking the lead. The game is just as good as I remember it.

Well, my finals are all within these next two weeks but fitting in some time for replaying Dragon Age:Origins after 3 years.
  • ParagonT - December 1, 2012 7 a.m.

Finals are coming up so I'm swamped, and also spending time with my fellow seniors since some may be graduating.

Dusted of my Wii during the week (perhaps all the Wii U coverage infected my subconscious) and I've been playing Mario Galaxy 2 again. Set myself the challenge of collecting every single star, heard its painfully difficult. So I'll be continuing that this weekend and most likely swearing/crying in frustration :)
  • Ironarm - December 1, 2012 11:53 a.m.

I have 241 stars out of 242. That last one is....it's something else. I go back to it every now and then just thinking "Maybe THIS time it will be different...", but I'm still coming up short. Good luck man! It's a super fun time getting all (most) of them, even the Green Stars.

It has finally happened, after six months of having both the witcher 2 and binary domain untouched in my collection I've finally installed the former on my computer in preparation for tonight and I gave the latter a shot last night. If I were to describe my experiences with binary domain so far I'd simply say "third person shooter". I've also resumed my progress in FFXIII-2 after I became quite meh'ed out after playing binary domain for an hour or so.

*update* why the hell does the witcher 2 have 10GB of patches to download? This is just ridiculous, after returning from an absence of any real PC gaming over the last couple of years I am met with this. Those graphics better be worth it.
  • ParagonT - December 1, 2012 6:58 a.m.

Keep me updated if it's indeed worth it and I'll pick it up next Steam sale.

After a few hours it seems pretty good, I can hardly make a verdict on whether it's a good game or not yet but there are some things I can say already. The combat is fantastic, it mixes fast paced, fluid swordplay with a variety of magic, traps and bombs. It's also one of the best looking games I've ever seen. However it does have some issues, the story is totally incomprehensible and uninteresting at this point due to a ton of back story from the first game, the controls are cumbersome on either keyboard and mouse or gamepad and finally some quest objectives are just broken. Overall the pros easily make up for the cons and I'd recommend you get it whenever it's on sale.
  • ParagonT - December 2, 2012 6:31 a.m.

Okay, sweet, thanks. I'll actually really get it next Steam sale now. I need a reserve of stuff stuff to do while I'm stranded on my farm in the mountains this winter. :/
