Weekend Spent: Sept. 15-16

Lorenzo: This weekend I will be spending time in the great outdoors and soaking up some UV rays at Lake Tahoe. After all of that, I might finally get a chance to start playing Sleeping Dogs and dig into the story before the big review season hits. From what I've played of the game so far, I'm really enjoying the Hong Kong setting and characters, but I'm having a hard time remembering to drive on the left side of the road. There go my cop points.

Justin: This weekend, I'll be playing F1 2012. Yep, there's a Towell special review coming up! Aside from that, I'm well into Disc 2 of Resident Evil: Code Veronica from last weekend, plus I have started Batman: Arkham City, which is amazing. But Jet Set Radio HD might get in the way of that. Too many games! Aaagh!

Lucas: JAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN AKIHABARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA LOVE MY LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE

David: I'd been looking forward to Borderlands 2 for a long time. Then last night I finally started playing Borderlands 2, properly, with a four-man, multi-class squad of ravenous, tactically-minded gun fetishists with the creation of ludicrous showboating awesome at the forefront of our thoughts. Then suddenly it was 1 a.m. And we didn't even care. I'm not doing any sleeping this weekend. I am collecting guns. It is inevitable.

Henry: I feel like this is the fourth time I've written this in Weekend Spent, but I'm on the road again, specifically in Tokyo for the next two weeks. Until TGS next week, I'll mostly be playing the live action game "Sweaty American Tourist With Too Much Disposable Income." Still, I did bring my 3DS, and aside from collecting new, Japanese StreetPass friends, I'll likely jump into New Super Mario Bros. 2 if I get some new Coin Rush challengers. Ja mata.

Sterling: As of the time I'm writing this, I'm at about Level 18 in Borderlands 2. I can't go into too many details until the review goes up (Gratuitous Promotion Warning: Monday, 9pm PST), but suffice it to say, I'm having a good time clinically removing numbers from a variety of freakish creatures on Pandora.

Tom: I have a real problem when it comes to saying one thing, but doing another. Take for, instance, last weekend, when I thought, for sure, Guild Wars 2 would be my go-to fascination. Such was not the case. On Friday, Lucas and I picked up Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 on Steam, since we were having issues connecting on the game IRL. We played. I left work, went home, and proceeded to spend, like, 10 more hours with it over the weekend. Unforeseen, to put it mildly. Anyway, Borderlands 2 is on the docket for this weekend. Take it with a grain of salt.

Sophia: Like Tom, I am sort of lying when it comes to what I’m doing on my weekends. I have been playing Zen Studio’s new Plants vs Zombies pinball table because it seems to be the only table where I can earn more than 10 million points. Is it sad that I am still addicted to DragonVale? It doesn’t take up any time, but it’s really the first thing I check in the morning on my phone and the last thing I do before I go to bed. Am I the only one who cares?!? (free gems this weekend btw.)

Hollander: I'm traveling this weekend, so while I'd love to be playing Guild Wars 2 or a few games I'm playing for review, I'm going with mostly mobile games. So if you see me laughing, I'm playing The Secret of Monkey Island for this month's Game Club; if I'm crying, it's Hexagon for iOS; and if I look confused, there's a good chance I'm playing the most recent Professor Layton.
