Opera Software is developing a special internet browser for DS, enabling handheld gamers to navigate the web on the move. The system will feature a PDA style touch-screen keyboard and comes packaged as a normal DS card.
A TV tuner has also been unveiled at a DS meeting in Japan. Developed with a Japanese company the tuner will fit into the DS game card slot, with an external aerial.
"Adding web browsing capabilities was a natural evolution" for DS, says Opera, and the browser will certainly offer better functionality than PSP's long-winded internet access, thanks to the instantly usable touch-screen technology.
The browser is due to launch in Japan this June, priced at 3800 yen (roughly %26pound;18), although there's currently no word on a European release.
