Watch Dogs confirmed for Wii U

Version of next-gen stunner to appear on Nintendo machine

After a stunning PlayStation 4 demonstration last night and the confirmation that Watch Dogs will be a PS4 launch title, Ubisoft has confirmed that there will also be a Wii U version of its upcoming hack-em-up. Placeholder boxart has been produced (pictured) for all of the current-gen machines, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

These versions will undoubtedly have some graphical concessions compared to the PS4 demo footage, but the touchscreen options offered up by the Wii U Game Pad would seem a logical fit for the 'hack the city via your smartphone' gameplay.

Woohoo, time to dust off my Wii U! I can't believe my Wii U is already gathering dust :(

Wii U!!! This looks cool. After I hear more info about it, I'll contemplate buying it

If this wasn't on PS3, it would sell consoles. I'm still going to play it on PS4 unless they completely mess up the price, but it doesn't seem like they'll do it again.

If anything, I'd say Watch Dogs would look better on PC than on PS4, but I suppose you guys were just grouping it together because it'd be easier to write like that. I'm just glad this is coming out for PC!

What? Now I have to get a Wii U soon. Glad it is coming, but I don't think there will be that much graphical concessions. I think Ubisoft knows what they are doing.

Sweet. Definite pre-order for me, now. On WiiU at least. :D

I thought I saw that this was confirmed for PS4? Does this mean (like Destiny) it'll be a simultaneous PS3 and PS4 release? That seems REALLY strange to me...How would that even work? Shoehorn the PS3 version so much that people want to buy a PS4?

Don't panic! It is a PS4 launch title. But there will also be current-gen versions. They won't look as good, but they will likely play the same way. And I'm sure the PS3 version will be fine. Imagine GTA IV's engine - it'll likely look similar to that on PS3.

If it is I imagine it'll be like the simultaneous PS2&PS3 releases when the PS3 first came out

Right, I missed those so I've got no frame of reference unfortunately.

I'm sure I can live with that :) My massive massive backlog prevents me from even considering a new system. Also, I forgot Tomb Raider comes out so soon O_O It's weird having the money but not the time for games - must.stop.buying.new.releases.

    Also thanks for the response!

    PS3? Aaaaww yeeeeeaaaaahhhh!!!!!
  • Talvari - February 21, 2013 4:59 a.m.

Glad to hear it's coming to PC and Wii U! Personally think they could do some neat things with a Wii U version what with the hack all the things...thing they have going on :|

    Yay PC release!
