bros Top 7

Nothing like celebrating the very worst characters in video game writing, exemplary representations of everything that makes games about as high-brow as a Michael Bay film.
  • thesearingstar - December 3, 2012 11:17 a.m.

It also strikes me as somewhat inappropriate timing to celebrate this nonsense in the wake of the #1ReasonWhy movement ...
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - December 3, 2012 11:34 a.m.

I don't know that this is so much a celebration as it is poking fun at some of the ludicrous protagonists that exist in the games we play.

The day a fictional character such as Duke Nukem starts harassing people in an office is the day I will take your comment seriously.
  • thesearingstar - December 3, 2012 6:18 p.m.

His name is White Male gamer--or, if you prefer, anyone who harassed Anita Sarkeesian, or justified Duke Nukem Forever's absurd rape scenes. Ruh-roh, Red Alert: White Supremacy at jeopardy! Better take my bullshit seriously and realize that this nonsense celebrates characters celebrated by gamers and created ~for~ gamers.

Those irritating guys from the Call of Duty zombies mode. They toss out generic, unfunny, repetitive and tedious bro-comments like they're going out of fashion. Because nothing is funnier than vodka jokes and sharting, right?
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - December 3, 2012 11:35 a.m.

the devil and god are raging inside me
  • dcobs123 - December 3, 2012 12:08 p.m.

I thought Richard Nixon was pretty funny.
  • doominatorx6 - December 3, 2012 12:10 p.m.

The first thing I said, quote, when I played Blops2 zombies: "Oh thank god Dempsey and his band of annoying assholes are gone." Granted, the Blops2 characters are pretty annoying too, but not that much.
  • FOZ - December 3, 2012 11:34 a.m.

I don't think anything you said makes sense. First of all, how is that relevant? Second, which of these characters are serious? At all? Look at the games they come from. Do you know what these games are?
  • Net_Bastard - December 3, 2012 12:01 p.m.

I love how MIA's "Paper Planes" is about someone living in poverty getting money through illegal means, while in Far Cry 3, it plays during a video of a bunch of rich douchebags partying on an island.
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - December 3, 2012 12:12 p.m.

    lololol, juxtaposition!
  • runner - December 3, 2012 12:11 p.m.

Instead of "bro", I think "douchebag" might be more appropriate for this article.
  • slimjim441 - December 3, 2012 12:34 p.m.

It's the same thing; didn't you know?
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - December 3, 2012 12:57 p.m.

    Hah. If only you knew...
  • SirDinkleman - December 3, 2012 12:22 p.m.

What about the guys from Army of Two? Now THOSE guys are Bros
  • Redeater - December 3, 2012 12:25 p.m.

You might want to change that "we can't help but love". Duke can rot . He had one really classic game and probably one of the most disappointing/worst game I have ever played. It's nice to see Hotspur get some love. Though it is painful to be reminded of a game that failed miserably!
  • shawksta - December 3, 2012 12:59 p.m.

Ah come on, despite Forevers flaws the game still managed to make Duke himself perfection, people seem to forget what exactly about Duke Nukem that made us love him and it was his badass attitude of being a MAN, I mean for crying out loud the intro is him playing video games while getting his D*ick sucked by Twins. I'm not saying the flaws are excusable, the game is still terrible but Duke Himself made the game something.

I loved that game, it played great, the humor was stupid but still hilarious, and despite all the boner jokes, the characters remained likable.
