There are some things that I like, but overall some cards feel really unbalanced. Rebonakku can come out and raise hell really easily. He seems like the kind of card that would define a set. On the other hand, Shadow Link feels somewhat underpowered considering the accompanying lore. I don't really see anything that requires any green mana, as regeneration is something found in black as well. I'd be more interested to see him made to be a creature who can copy the power and toughness of another creature on the battlefield until end of turn. I think that would be thematically interesting and would make him a huge, scary card.

I think you wrote boring joke. You may be respect Magic.

Also, some of the more powerful cards seem to be undercast, but maybe I've just been away from the game too long to remember adequate casting cost.

I want to have some of these, if nothing more than a tribute deck.I could care less about color schemes, but I was a bit put off by the Jump card having nothing to do with flying, though though that's hardly worthy of a critical comment.Destroy Big Heart with disenchant, attack with an unblockable 1/1 ftw.

@bobby2055 Finally. Someone who isn't just "Herp, derp, your Magic set sucks" and actually has valid points. And you have an obscure Ice Age card as your avatar, so you definitely are worth responding to. "Second of all, there is such a thing as a color pie. It's what guides what each color does, and you have just shattered it today." I disagree, but go on. "A 2/1 first striker is not green." Elvish Archers. But yeah, out of all the Magic cards in existence, I can only come up with two that are 2/1 first strikers. So now we have three. "Landwalk and jump are not black" Bago-Bago? You're probably right that he could be a different color, but I just saw a skeleton fish as being black. "A 1/1 vanilla is not red (its not even good.)" It's not supposed to be good. It's an even more basic enemy than a Dragon Quest Slime. Not every card is meant to astound. Wait until you see Fallen King. "Nothing about direct damage is green. (to hell with hornet sting) Flying and shade ability are not green" If you're talking about Boon, it's a modified Unyaro Bees, which is green. "first strike is not blue" Narwhal. Seriously, though. I just wanted to see the blue equivalent to White/Black/Blood Knight. "Chain lightning is red, not blue or white." Are you talking about... Carock? Carock's ability isn't really the same as Chain Lightning as it has to be directed back at Carock. Additionally, the ability is spot on for how it is in the game, which is all I was going for and was the most important thing to me to get right. The colors didn't seem off to me due to blue's pinging and blue and white's permission, redirect and damage prevention abilities. "Direct damage is red not blue" Not sure what card you're referring to, unless it's Cavern Goriya. But I know a ton of blue creatures that ping for 1, so maybe that's not what you're talking about. Maybe you're still referring to Carock. Eh? "I understand why you did what you did, but please don't sacrifice design basics for flavor." To me, the flavor was far and away the most important thing to get right. The color pie wasn't that important to me, but it seems I was wrong in feeling that way as that's what everyone keeps picking apart. Getting the flavor right was what I concentrated on most because I assumed more people were familiar with Zelda 2 than they were with Magic rulings and color pies. If I wanted to see a card do something, I did it. I wanted to see a blue version of White Knight. I thought that would be cool. I have also noticed a trend that anything I played around with like that has been met with heavy criticism and hostility. I do appreciate you having actually valid things to say, though. That's the most I've gotten out of anyone who took issue with my Magic set.

First of all, great job for doing this. It takes a lot of creativity and a lot of stick-to-itivenss to finish a set. Second of all, there is such a thing as a color pie. It's what guides what each color does, and you have just shattered it today. Eg A 2/1 first striker is not green. Landwalk and jump are not black Nothing about direct damage is green. (to hell with hornet sting) A 1/1 vanilla is not red (its not even good.) Flying and shade ability are not green (well maybe shade if you do it right) first strike is not blue Chain lightning is red, not blue or white. Direct damage is red not blue (please don't look at time spiral, it doesn't count) I could go on. I understand why you did what you did, but please don't sacrifice design basics for flavor. So where do we get these cards at. Zelda II is my favorite all-time games.
  • KREATIVEassassin - January 22, 2011 5:29 a.m.

Will someone please explain this alleged "bad wording" that is on "almost every card?" Someone. Anyone. What are you talking about?
  • GamesRadarBrettElston - January 22, 2011 2:18 a.m.

The italics come from the NES instruction manual or other related works. Flavor text is about the creature/object featured in the image, so IMO it fits perfectly fine. Also more cred for using old-school phrases to compliment the 8-bit graphics.
  • AuthorityFigure - January 21, 2011 2:18 p.m.

@SonidZero Agreed. Also, the italic text is meant to provide colour and interest to the card - it is NOT a description of the picture on the card. Lame.
