The Streets of Rage police car dude is the best sharpshooter in video game history! Don't believe me, name anyone else that can fire a bazooka into a lift.

Wait, Star Control is an obscure game? Old, yes, but everyone I knew was all about that game back in the day.

Already posted this in the forums and on twitter, but for those who don't venture there but love there Talkradar UK. For those interested in the fine armchair sport of Fantasy football, I have created a league on the official Premier League website for fans of Talkradar UK having mentioned it to Mr Irvine on Twitter. The game is free to play and the more people the merrier so if you do want to join I have linked to the website below and the league you need to enter is "TRUK 2011/12" (League PIN 60603-23070). Currently upto 5 teams with 2.5weeks to go so plenty of time to join in the fun. - Salaryman2456 http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

Orange flavour Hula-Hoops and Syreen penetrators just about make up for the aural vomit poured into my ears by Bon Jovi.

You probably already know about this game, but the sequel to Star Control is a shareware called The Ur-Quan Masters, and it is excellent old-school fun. I'm pretty sure I learned about it from an old GamesRadar article, as a matter of fact.

SDHoneymonster, cool it's snowballing now. Look forward to seeing thee there.

Wasn't Star Control one of those early EA games, with the yellow tab thingy in the cartridge? Maybe I'm getting confused, I know I played it, but it seems like it was from one of the lesser companies, at the time, not a Konami or Capcom or Sega or anything. And wasn't the Genesis/Mega Drive supposed to be slowdown free? I don't remember much, and I played a lot of shooters on Genesis.

    Huzzah for new TRUK!
  • TJP75 - July 28, 2011 4:52 a.m.

As usual an excellent and highly entertaining show. The "Hedgehog" grenade sounds like something involving Ron Jeremy. I was surprised Matt didn't mention it... Cheers.
  • GamesRadar_NathanIrvine - July 28, 2011 8:44 a.m.

@garnsr I can remember the weird little yellow thing that was put into Megadrive/Genesis cartridges, and I'm pretty sure Star Control had one. Good memory work, sir.
