Super Mario 3D World announced for Wii U in December

Super Mario 3D Land had been one of the best-selling Mario games ever, so it makes sense that the Mario team would make its next game in the franchise looks a lot like it, only with the potential for four player co-op. Super Mario 3D World takes a page out of Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES, and is planned to hit the Wii U this December.

As you can tell by the logo, Mario's newest power-up is a cat suit activated by a bell. Mario can climb walls, attack enemies with claws, and adorableness. We'll have more info on the game very soon, but for now just be happy to know that the spiritual successor for Super Mario Bros. 2 is hitting the Wii U by the end of 2013.

This was a little dissapointing for me. When they were teasing a new 3D mario I was thinking this would be like galaxy... or more! Remember when they were showing off Galaxy for the wii and all of our eyes widened with anticipation? I was hoping to have my mind thoroughly blown by the power of Nintendo's creativity. Maybe if it wasn't something tottally amazing it'd be a fantastic sequel to Galaxy 2! The game ended up being a sequel, but not to the mind blowing galaxy series. Instead, it was a sequel to the pretty good 3DS game. I enjoyed super mario 3D Land, but the game was far from Galaxy's level of impressive. The trailer here looks like fun, but it failed to wow me like I had hoped this new mario game would. It just looks like familiar fun rather than some flagship new experience that will be a system seller.

None of the 3DS Platforming Mario's were sequels to each other of the last gen. They each brand new concepts. I can definitley understand why you felt Dissapointed but basically Super Mario 3D Land was the new experience, its just the fact that it wont be fleshed out on the 3DS so it had to be the Wii U to show what it can truly do. You would be surprised, Nintendo EAD had done allot of Miracles

I'm excited. Mario Land 3D was a better "2D" Mario game than every single New Mario Bros. game that has been released. I'm also glad they finally got rid of one of those Toad Characters. Why exactly were they using two toads when they have three million different characters in the Mario world?? Also, why are they using "blue toad" instead of traditional red and white toad?? O_o

I think its because Blue Toad (and yellow for that matter) not only had interesting Color schemes on other costumes but because Regular Toads still played a part in the 2D Mario games and itll be similar here. There was a VERY interesting scene where your using the gyroscope on a little cube type plane with a Red Toad Expedition member from the Galaxy series going through holes.

New Super Mario Bros, 3d land world: Doki Doki Panic. ...I'm okay with this.

Well, I'm on board. Although I prefer collecting stars and a little more openness, 3D Land was great so there's no reason to doubt the formula.

I can't decide how to feel about this. Nothing about the trailer made me think there was an objective like missions to get a star or a shine etc. I guess that form of gameplay is maybe outdated now but it works >.> But regardless 4 player 3D powerups and stuff could be fun. I'll have to wait to find out more about it.

i think being able to climb the poles is too much, it looks like the suit turns mario into sonic because the scratch reminds me of the homing attack

Now imagine mario in a catsuit. not cat suit, but a catsuit... ...yeah.
