Step aside, Professor Layton! Doctor Lautrec's here - and he's brought a trailer

Don't think Professor Layton's got the monopoly on the 'eccentric PhD solves clever puzzles' genre. Konami's Dr Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights is coming to 3DS this summer and it's going to be high quality stuff if this new trailer's anything to go by. Check it out.

A network of unexplored catacombs underneath Paris? Lost treasures to find? Miles of sewers? Well, maybe not that last one, but the rest sounds great.

The score is straight out of Indiana Jones, the reverb-soaked voice and Parisian intrigue is straight out of The Da Vinci Code and the premise is straight out of... well, Professor Layton (duh). But who cares if it's as original as salt and vinegar flavoured crisps? This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun and we want something of substance to get our teeth into on 3DS.

While it is a clone, this seems to be an AWESOME clone, especially how it seems like its gonna play VERY different then layton. I cant wait, since japan got Layton:Mask of Miracles, this game would be a great cover-up ^_^ You know, a cross-over would be great, but Layton's busy with our favorite attorney Phoenix wright in their own cross-over XD

@BladedFalcon - I completely agree. Going by that same logic I'm going to proclaim that The Witcher 2 is not as good as Dragon Age 2, also Brink is not nearly as good as Bulletstorm. /facepalm reCaptcha=However, riptiese

Um... how do you guys would know that if you haven't played the game yet? Geez...

Professor Layton would still own this guy.

Looks interesting! I'm a huge fan of Professor Layton and I'm excited to see how this is developed in the coming months.

The game looks fine and all that but how the heck did konami get past the plagerism police with this. seriously, some of the character designs look like they were straight up ripped from other games. and I'm not even talking about the layton clone. the character Jean near the end of the trailer looks like a traced copy of Sissle from ghost trick, just with a pointy beard. I dunno, maybe its just me.

The accents of the cops were hilarious!

This has me more interested than Layton's games to begin with, hell yes for a manly mustachioed archaeologist! Let's just hope the game's actually go, at least XD

At first I wanted to bash it for being a Prof. Layton clone but my man is rocking a sweet mustache and beefy sideburns, plus his name is Jean Pierre. Not to mention who cares if it's a ripoff, if it's fun it's fun. Color me interested. reCaptcha= byoution Clinical. And frankly if you suspect you've got a byoution, or any kind of growth, you need to get it checked out at a clinic as soon as possible.
