StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm ending video leaked - [UPDATED]

[EDIT: Hope you folks already got to this video, because Blizzard's lawdogs just issued a cease-and-desist letter threatening to make us have Bobby Kotick over for Christmas dinner if we didn't take it down. On the downside, that means we're not hosting it any more. On the plus side, that means it was clearly legit and not a fan-made hoax. And honestly - this is the internet. You can buy a human liver on the web. We're thinking you can still find this vid if you look hard enough.]

A rough animatic for a lengthy cut scene has just surfaced on the internet, and many StarCraft II fans believe it is for the final cutscene for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. It’s possible that this is all just a hoax, a well-made fan video from someone looking to play a prank on the world. But even if the video is a fake, it sure is convincing. Placeholder voice acting, the occasional cut to a story board sketch, and the time lines all make the rough cut scene seem legitimate. DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER if you are worried about potentially spoiling the campaign for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.

No official release date has been announced for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. If the video is legitimate, we wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard scrapped the whole thing and crafted a brand new ending.

I'm happy it will be hard to find now. Who would want to spoil the ending of Starcraft II's second campaing? Damn.

Based on the Cease-and-Desist order and the fact that Mengsk was being voiced by SAM WISE, I think we can be sure it's real. The Kerrigan model was likely a placeholder, and no mention of the Xel'Naga is probably because it's unspoken. When they attack, every species they know of will have to help, or they'll all die.

Doesn't seem too fake, especially it's the type of ending blizzard does for his games... And the this is some kind of good ending, and when the protoss games is released it will have a dark ending, just like the expansions of the orginal Starcraft or Warcraft 3... If it's the true ending, and blizzard change, it'll be hard to make something better than this, it was a good ending

seems fake to me and Evernight57 is right, no mention of the Xel'naga and Kerrigan is zerg again? not very believeable.
  • Evernight57 - December 9, 2010 4:43 p.m.

Very doubtful that is the cutscene. 1) Kerrigan is going to revert BACK into her zerg self? 2) Zero mention of the Xel'naga? And the zerg are supposed to be the Xel'Naga's tool of destruction - freeing them from Kerrigan's will will only help the Xel'Naga I assume.

That song at the end (when she's... you know) sounds REALLY familiar. Anyone got a name?
  • CragFace - December 9, 2010 6:40 a.m.

lol, the taser and a cigar in the box? so he can look like a d-bag whilst being a d-bag

The general direction of this video is pretty much what I was expecting given the end of Wings of Liberty. On the other hand, it seems to be tying up both the Terran and Zerg storylines a bit too tightly, given Starcraft is a three-race game and there's a whole other expansion still to go. Also, to Mengsk's taser... dude what?
  • guimoman - December 9, 2010 5:19 a.m.

OMG that was amazing! I think I'm gonna stick to believing this as the ending even if they change it!
  • Sleepingdragon - December 9, 2010 4:49 a.m.

...I wanted Mengsk to win :(
  • Sensationo - December 9, 2010 4:36 a.m.

What is this Transformers. Just need Optimus Prime to roll in and say "Freedom is the right of all sentient Zerglings."
  • StealthyMangos - December 9, 2010 4:31 a.m.

how come transformers music is always used in these sort of videos?
  • Onepersonwithnoopinion - December 9, 2010 3:59 a.m.

Imagine if this is what Bobby Kotick planned on selling when he came up with the brilliant idea to market cutscenes separately.
  • Lionzest7 - December 9, 2010 3:45 a.m.

seems like a craptastic ending to me, sort of like wings of liberty. I guess it's sort of believable. Either way SC2's story really blows hard now.
  • joewilcoxson - December 9, 2010 3:43 a.m.

    Pretty amazing.
