I'd hate to see how poorly they react when Lightning Returns doesn't sell to their sky-high expectations. If this news means we won't get a Tomb Raider 2, Square Enix needs to just stop.

The games still sold quite well for what they are. The real question is what is Square blowing all their money on?

Chances are they blew it on developing Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the past six years, the horrible horribleness that was FFXIV (leaving a permanent black mark on the franchise, etc) and the FFXIII games in general. Everything Eidos has done lately has been great and sold rather well, but the Square Enix side is the weak link.

They aren't even giving Tomb Raider a chance, it was just released. I'm sure the sales figure for its first quarter will be better. It is a killer game and any true gamer should buy it new (don't rent it) to support them.

Yeah, it's a shame to see Square-Enix thinking high scores = high sales. Though, all things considered, better to shoot for high scores than to shoot for making something cheap and quick and shoving it out of the door. Also, honestly, I wish it was Hitman that fell short, rather than Tomb Raider. I'm a fan of the Hitman series, but not of the latest game. And while Tomb Raider had its faults, I think it was still an interesting game, and I was more drawn into it than with Hitman.

Man even a few years ago a game needed to only sell over a million to be successful. cut the fuckin budgets

Come on're better than this :( ..maybe >.>. Expecting a high metacritic score to equal high sales should not be in the same sentence geebus. Bring on the new guy :|

Wow, Square Enix needs to fire whoever does their estimates.
