The Sims series has come a long way since the tame days of the first game in the series. Those no-fun prudes would barely go near each other unless it involved making a baby. Things loosened up when the concept of WooHooing was introduced in The Sims 2, and with The Sims 3 and its six expansions, Sims are presented with over a dozen zany places to get it on. We've already told you how a Sim could be in the Top 7 game characters we (seriously) fell in love with, so let's show you how we can fall in lust with them, too...
How to get it on: When getting romantic with a partner, the bed of the Sim in control is the default location for WooHoo, as long as it’s a double bed. Once the dialogue option comes up (after much kissing and flirting), choose WooHoo and watch how quickly they make a beeline for the bedroom.
Why it’s great: The bed is a classic place for romance, dating back to the ability to “play in bed” in The Sims: Livin’ Large. Much has changed since the Vibromatic Heart Bed days of yore, but the bed remains a prime doin’ it spot. Some might say that it’s a totally vanilla WooHoo location, but it has its advantages. For one thing, it’s comfortable; for another, it’s also really convenient for that post-WooHoo nap.
How to get it on: Tour the local military base with a romantic partner. Once inside, click on the building for the option to appear.
Why it’s great: Even though you can’t actually see the military base WooHoo taking place, the implications are great. Nothing says “respecting the military” like sneaking off during a tour for a little hanky panky. And there’s always a chance your Sims might get busted and thrown out onto the street, with your Sims’ nudity exposed in all its pixilated glory. But hey, that’s part of the excitement, right?
How to get it on: Just like the military base, WooHooing in this rabbit hole requires two lovers to tour it together.
Why it’s great: The thrill of WooHooing in public can provide huge mood boosts to your Sims, provided they don’t get caught. The science lab, most known for its willingness to experiment on local Sims dead and alive, makes an unlikely spot for romance, but maybe your Sims get turned on by potions and beakers. And it’s about time those brainy scientists saw some action.
How to get it on: Have two involved Sims go on a date to the local movie theater. Once inside, the option to WooHoo should appear when you click on the theater.
Why it’s great: Hey, we’ve all been there. You’re on a date, the movie is boring, so you find other ways to occupy your time in the theater. It’s already dark, so the mood is set, and compared to some of the other wild places your Sims have been getting it on around town, the theater is downright tame. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a perfectly good WooHoo spot, so go ahead and catch a show.
How to get it on: Just like the previous rabbit hole locations, WooHooing in the City Hall requires two lovebirds taking a tour, and selecting the WooHoo option once it’s underway.
Why it’s great: While your Sims may live in relative peace, that doesn’t mean they’re not subjected to their own political scandals. And what’s more scandalous than sneaking away during a tour of City Hall to WooHoo with a partner? Bonus points if one of the lovers is the Leader of the Free World. You’re really going to need to max out your charisma skill if you want to talk your way out of that one.
In a Tent (The Sims 3: World Adventures expansion)
How to get it on: Camping out with a partner? Once you’ve maxed out your romantic relationship with a nearby Sim, click on the tent and the option to WooHoo will appear. Enjoy!
Why it’s great: The Sims 3: World Adventures added exotic locales, mysterious tombs, and compelling adventures to the game, but let’s be real: the best part was having another spot in which to WooHoo. The tent offers some of the convenience of the bed - namely, a place to pass out afterwards - but since you can carry it in your personal inventory, it means your Sims are ready to go anywhere, anytime. Taking your hot date to the beach? Pitch a tent and WooHoo it up. Frightened by a mummy encounter while tomb raiding? Console your partner with a tent-rocking romp. The options are endless!
A Sarcophagus (The Sims 3: World Adventures expansion)
How to get it on: If WooHooing in a tent just isn’t exotic enough for you, the sarcophagus, also from World Adventures, gives you yet another choice. Whether it’s in a tomb or in your house, all you have to do is click on it when your romantic interest is nearby and the WooHoo choice will appear.
Why it’s great: Not that we know from personal experience or anything, but it can’t possibly be comfortable in there. But maybe that’s why it’s so awesome - the idea of two Sims so desperate to WooHoo they don’t care where they get it on, as long as they can find a place to be alone. Just check for mummies before you go in there. Otherwise, you know, awkward.
Time Machine (The Sims 3: Ambitions expansion)
How to get it on: This is one of the toughest WooHoo spots just because of what you’ll have to go through to get it. You need a Sim with a high inventing skill; just make your inventor Sim continuously invent new products until the Time Machine appears as a result of his or her hard work. The rest is easy, provided you have two romantically involved Sims nearby: just click on the Time Machine, choose WooHoo, and watch the magic (or, rather, science) happen.
Why it’s great: Why isn’t it great? First of all, WooHooing in a Time Machine means your Sims can time travel, and that’s awesome. Secondly, there’s always a chance that you’ll WooHoo your way into the Jurassic era or something. And can you think of a bigger turn-on than carnivorous dinosaurs? Okay, maybe you’d be better off WooHooing in the future. Either way, you’ll have something to brag about to your friends the next day.
Elevator (The Sims 3: Late Night expansion pack)
How to get it on: If you’re in a high-rise building and have two romantically involved Sims in the vicinity, the WooHoo option will appear when you click on the elevator.
Why it’s great: The elevator gives Sims a way to live it up when they’re going down. Not only does it offer the convenience factor of getting from one floor to another without having to take the stairs, it has the added bonus of being a totally sexy WooHoo spot. And since many of Bridgeport’s buildings are high rises, there are lots of opportunities to get it on while en route to a club or bar - though other Sims might get annoyed at the elevator hold-up.
Hot Tub (The Sims 3: Late Night expansion)
How to get it on: Have your Sim join his or her significant other in the hot tub, then cuddle up. If their relationship is high enough, the conversation option WooHoo will appear.
Why it’s great: Making its triumphant return from The Sims 2, the hot tub is even sexier this time around, since adults have the option to go skinny-dipping (provided there are no underage Sims on the lot). Proving to have amazing lung capacity, the WooHooing Sims completely disappear under the water during the act, save for the occasional body part poking its way out. Between the heat, the bubbles, and the jets, the hot tub provides a super-classy way for your Sims to bump uglies.
Celebrity Trailer (The Sims 3: Late Night expansion)
How to get it on: To get the celebrity trailer, you need to have your Sim become a level five celebrity in The Sims 3: Late Night. It’s not easy, but with enough schmoozing, you’ll be able to pull it off. After that, you just need to find a spot to place the trailer, and have two loving Sims pick it as their WooHoo spot.
Why it’s great: The celebrity trailer is an elite, hard-to-get status symbol, so WooHooing there says that your Sim has truly made it. He or she is a superstar who can have anything or anyone. Like the tent, it can be carried in a Sim’s personal inventory, which gives the added bonus of having a portable, semi-private WooHoo spot wherever your celebrity ventures. Hey, you never know!
Shower (The Sims 3: Generations expansion)
How to get it on: As long as your Sim has a romantic interest on the property, all you have to do is click on the shower for the WooHoo option to appear.
Why it’s great: WooHooing in the shower is fantastic for several reasons. In addition to the mood boost that comes with the act, doing it in the shower also fills up the Sims’ hygiene bars, making it a multi-purpose spot for romance. On top of that, since all you have to do is click on it to make the WooHoo option appear, it can cut out a lot of the tedious dialogue and foreplay required for other spots. Look, making out and holding hands are nice and all, but sometimes Sims just want to get down to business.
Tree House (The Sims 3: Generations expansion)
How to get it on: Got a tree house in your yard? Having a Sim choose click on it when his or her lover is on the lot will bring up the WooHoo option.
Why it’s great: This family-friendly spot was introduced in The Sims 3: Generations, and offered children a new place to play… but we know you really put one in your yard in hopes of getting some hot WooHoo action. Sorry kids, but mommy and daddy need some alone time in your beloved tree house - go play Madden or SSX or something. The idea of parents who so desperately desire a bit of outdoor action that they’ll defile a child’s play area is hilarious. Your Sims might end up with a negative moodlet from splinters, but it’s totally worth it.
Haystack (The Sims 3: Pets expansion)
How to get it on: Presumably for feeding horses for The Sims 3: Pets, you can place a haystack in your yard and have two romantically involved Sims choose the WooHoo option that pops up when you click on it.
Why it’s great: Like the sarcophagus, this is one of those spots in which it can’t possibly be comfortable to WooHoo. But when the mood strikes, nothing will stop your Sims - not even the idea of hay in, um, awkward places. Just don’t be surprised if your pets stop by to watch or graze. That hay was supposed to be for the horses, after all.
Box of Mystery (The Sims 3: Showtime expansion)
How to get it on: You’ll need to have a skilled magician to even have access to the Box of Mystery. After that, it’s simply a matter of finding another Sim willing to be your...erm... assistant.
Why it’s great: First of all, it’s another portable WooHoo spot, so you know what that means - you can get it on anywhere, anytime. In a park? Sure. Onstage during the middle of a magic show? If you’re daring enough! Just don’t think you’re fooling anyone; if you pop into a Box of Mystery with another Sim and nonchalantly pop out a few minutes later, people will talk.
Photo Booth (The Sims 3: Showtime expansion)
How to get it on: Put a photo booth in your house in The Sims 3: Showtime, or take a date to a location that already has one. Click, WooHoo, enjoy!
Why it’s great: This is another returning WooHoo spot, in this case coming back from The Sims 2: Nightlife. Since most Sims don’t have photo booths in their houses, that means it’s generally a public WooHoo place - but hey, if that’s what your Sims are into, who are we to judge? Just make sure you destroy any resulting pictures that pop out afterwards. No one needs to see that.
Horse WooHoo: Stall (The Sims 3: Pets expansion)
How to get it on: You’ll need a stall on your lot, as well as two horses of opposite sexes who are very friendly. After lots of socializing, the Try for Foal romantic option should pop up between the horses, after which they’ll automatically go for the nearest stall.
Why it’s great: Because horses need love too. Okay, sure, technically they’re “breeding”, not WooHooing, but who cares? They’re obviously doing something dirty in there, considering the entire stall becomes pixilated once the breeding begins.
Dog WooHoo: Doghouse (The Sims 3: Pets expansion)
How to get it on: The method for getting dogs to breed is very similar to that of horses - only they, of course, try for puppies, not foals.
Why it’s great: Again, the technical and unsexy term “breeding” doesn’t describe what appears to be going on in that doghouse. Falling flower petals? Romantic music? So much action the house is shaking? You can’t fool us, dogs - you’re totally WooHooing in there!
Cat WooHoo: Cathouse (The Sims 3: Pets expansion)
How to get it on: See Stall and Doghouse. Take two cats of opposite sexes, socialize them until they’re very good friends, and try for kittens.
Why it’s great: On the one hand, this is exactly the same as the Doghouse option, only with cats.
On the other hand, there are cats. And if there’s one thing the internet needs, it’s more cat videos.
Always with the WooHooing...
Sims might have a lot more places to WooHoo than ever before, but there’s always room for improvement. Where are some places you’d like to see them get it on in future installments? Be sure to leave your ideas in the comments.
