SimCity reboot confirmed for 2013

The rumors were true. Tonight, EA officially announced a reboot of Sim City, due out on PC In 2013. Lucy Bradshaw, senior VP of Maxis, took the stage at a pre-GDC event to reveal the game, and to out the first details.

Every time you place a building you plop it down, and a cloud of dust puffs up. Roads (which can now curve!) are caved into the ground. Sim City is a fully 3D game, taking full advantage of the powerful new engine, built for the modern era of PCs.

The game will also take advantage of the connected generation. Your neighbors will actually be other players, and your actions will directly effect their city. Pollution can carry between cities, and you'll be able to work with your neighbors.

Which is another new element - consequences. Will you run a lean, green metropolis, or an oppressive mess of a city? Both will have their own challenges and rewards, showing a powerful cause and effect system.

A new trailer was shown off, which we hope to have soon, and it looks brilliant. Stay tuned!

I gotta disagree with something, though not really about the game. How the hell can this be a "reboot"? Each game is a stand-alone game. At the very least, you seem to be saying that every game made is a "reboot"... which is ridiculous. I don't see people make the same claim about Final Fantasy.

Other than the thousands of crashes, and being too stupid to make a decent highway system, I loved Sim City 4. Just hope this new one isn't *too* taxing on PC's, or at least makes good use of the memory I do have.

I hope this is a full game and not another pay to play thing like the new Age of Empires. I am feed up these days with buying a game and only get half as the rest is overpriced DLC or extra purchasing. Still, good to finally see a real Sim City game.

Honestly, Sim City 2000 was the last Sim game that I really enjoyed. I'm hoping this one surprises me. OH WAIT!! Sim Golf came out after Sim City 2000 and is a really, really awesome game. I still boot it up every now and again. I wish we'd see a Sim Golf 2. I'm not holding my breath though :(

Sim City 200 was the last Sim game that I have played and I loved it, despite the stupid advisor telling me to build more parks when half of my city was zoos and ballparks etc. My sims sure did like to play I guess...

I hope this is the gritty, mature reboot of the series.

Anno 2070 already beats it. yawn, next.

Now HOW does Anno 2070 beat Sim City 5? :P They seem pretty different to me.
