Sega teases Jet Set Radio as its next PSN/XBLA Dreamcast port

Sega's posted a bite-sized video clip to YouTube teasing the next of its Dreamcast titles to be remastered for PSN and XBLA, and the vibe we're getting is... well, it's certainly less subtle than yesterday's Namco/Capcom collaboration, anyway. Have a look at the clip and see if this sounds to you like the sort of Radio that might be listened to by people in the Jet Set.

Obviously anyone can report the news, but you come to us for our expert speculatin' skills – so it's incumbent on us to agree that, yes, this looks awfully like the soft-announce for an HD Jet Set Radio port. Which would be welcome news, because the gaming world can be fairly cleanly divided into “those who've enjoyed Jet Set Radio” and “those who don't know what they're missing.” But hey, if this whole thing's a bait-and-switch before the surprise release of Seaman HD, that'll be fun too.

This better show up on Steam at some point or I will be a very angry man

My undies have become sticky all of a sudden.

Man, just last week I was thinking about how much I'd like to play a new Jet Set Radio game. At the very least, getting to play the old one again would be pretty awesome. ...or I could hook up my Dreamcast and play it anyway.

I never played Jet Grind Radio but I played the shit out of JSRF when it came bundled with my first XBOX. Is this the Original or JSRF?

WELL IT'S ABOUT GODDAMN TIME! Yeah, Sega, everyone wanted to play Bass Fishing before you ported JGR, am I right? In all seriousness, I am ecstatic this is finally happening, and can't wait to get it. Plus it'll justify the regular performances of "Sweet Soul Brother" I sing doing housework.

This game and its sequel haven't lost an ounce of appeal over the years IMO. Ahhhh! I can't f***ing wait to play this!

I had to stop playing JSRFuture because the awful soundtrack was driving me crazy. I don't see the appeal.

Im worried Justin Towell might of just exploded

Oblique, you say? I'm listening. Also, this is great news! I'm not sure how different the Sega one is from Jet Set Radio Future on the PS2 (I believe?), but from what I saw of that game, this quite the announcement!

Yes! Incredible to see this revisited. Fingers crossed it's a proper HD/widescreen remake though rather than a shite 4:3 ratio direct port like the previous Dreamcast crossovers.

    Day one purchase!!!
  • SonicX_89 - February 23, 2012 2:34 p.m.

It's about damn time. One of the greatest games ever (and my personal favorite) is being re-released for the masses. Hopefully, everyone will care and buy it. Wishful thinking on my part, but I hope this leads to JSRF being remade next, and then a new game after that.

....well next time I get points I'll be getting this then...
  • birdro - February 23, 2012 2:26 p.m.

YEEESSS. Seaman would be pretty great for the one time shock hilarity, but no. JET SET. Aside from Sonic Adventure maybe, greatest choice for a port in my opinion.
