Saints Row: The Third video has skydiving mission that sums up the game's gleeful insanity

With people cannons, weaponized dildos, and the hyper Dr. Genki, we knew Saints Row: The Third is angling to be the most ridiculous game that’s ever been. The game has shown its wild side in spiffy, cinematic trailers and we've written in-depth previews on the subject, though that might not have been proof enough for our readers that the game is as nuts as we say it is. This long chunk of gameplay showing a mission that starts with jumping out of an airplane and then amps up the absurdity might change your mind. Watch…

The video shows the second mission of the game titled “Freefalling,” as hostile negotiations between the evil Syndicate and the slightly less evil Saints break down in a deadly shootout. That follows to jumping out of a plane, said plane trying to ram the Saints, said Saint diving through the plane, then a midair gun fight as the killers hurtle toward the city. If this is where the game begins, just how far will it goes when it hits stores this November?

I don't care how many games are coming out in the next few months, this one is still top of my want list. MW3 can take a running jump out of a fast moving plane.

"So make yourself a fuckin' waffle." That line had me sold, even if I only played the first one for a few minutes. But I have some questions... : 1. How is the guy in the middle magically untied? 2. How do you survive three guys spraying bullets? 3. How did the main character magically have a parachute? But no really, this game looks phenomenal. It doesn't take itself seriously whatsoever, and that makes it all the more fun. The lines, the graphics, the gameplay... it all looks spectacularly fun. And the part where he flies through the plane a second time? PURE awesome. I'm stoked.

I am speechless at how awesome those sequences are. I'm SO glad the cinematics are still so badass. Saints Row 2 had some great action sequences and it looks like they're amping it up.

...So no Eliza Dushku this time? That's slightly disappointing. She doesn't even give off the same effect that she did in the previous game. Wonder what happened to Gat. Game looks hella fun though.

That was amazing. Perfect example of why Saints Row is so damn fun.
  • Jdub9064 - August 11, 2011 11:28 p.m.

I might be looking forward to this more than Gears or Arkham City, it just looks like so much fun
