Saints Row The Third "Enter the Dominatrix" expansion announced, adds "freaking super powers"

Saints Row The Third will be getting a stand-alone expansion pack called "Enter the Dominatrix," THQ announced today in a press release. Though it will be based off of the story, characters, and engine of Saints Row The Third, this will be an entirely new retail product that won't require SR3 to play.

According to the press release, the expansion will include the number one most requested addition from fans of the Saints Row series: super powers.

The story involves a powerful alien warlord who has his sights set on conquering Earth. The only thing standing in his way is the Third Street Saints, who have now become a global empire.

"Now, in order to prepare his forces for domination, Zinyak captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him in an elaborate virtual reality simulation," reads the press release. "This simulation program looks and feels like Steelport, but it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Here, you are a slave. Welcome… to the Dominatrix."

This "Dominatrix" dimension seems to be the narrative excuse for giving players super powers. Though we're not really concerned with "why" we'll have super powers. As long as we get to fly and shoot laser beams.

Sounds like the natural step forward for the series, really. XD

Aliens? Super powers? Yeah, that sounds about right for Saints Row.

Yeah, if you haven't played the first two. I understand why people like The Third, but come on.

I'm guessing the Online Pass won't cover this?

From what I hear the online pass didn't cover a lot of SR3 DLC and according to the IGN forums most people were not happy with it.

I thought that it was an April fools thing lol

Half the price of the full game ($30) and retail only (no downloads) for what should be DLC?......no thanks, I bet this is like 8 mission and will take 1 hour to beat like Saints Row the thirds DLC. Such a shame because I really enjoyed the game.

Loved SR3, think it's better than GTAIV in every conceivable way. The humor(although not for everyone), the combat, the driving, the missions, the characters, the visual style( a mix between cartoony and realistic), and the side quests are all top notch in my opinion. Kind of strange that it's a retail product, though. Unless they're gonna go in the direction that Rockstar did for Episodes in Liberty City, then it's understandable.

I loved SR3 as well and while I can agree the mechanics were better than GTA4, making that comparison is like saying that episode of Community was better than that episode of Breaking Bad you just watched.

I know comparing Saints Row and GTA is like comparing Coke and Pepsi, but it's just the character of the game that, for me, makes it a more enjoyable experience. Plus, the cutscenes I LIKE to watch. Unlike the borefests that were GTAIV's. WOW. Instead of just words, in Captcha they're using actual PICTURES with words in them now.

Y'know they promised superpowers with the last addon, and that only lasted one mission. I'll reserve my glee until I see something concrete, and awesome.

Aliens and super powers? Hmm, that doesn't sound at all like a certain free superhero MMO on Steam! (sarcasm, but it is funny how similar the basic idea is to DCUO.) Also, angry Saints Flow mascot will devour your soul.
