Blasphemous 2 gets a significant and free content update with The Third Sin expansion, which just dropped
The Third Sin is available now, bringing a new whip weapon, a fresh area to explore, and plenty of new features to the Metroidvania
If you've been maintaining your penitence in the hope of more Blasphemous 2 then your prayers have just been answered, as a huge content update for the Metroidvania, titled The Third Sin, just shadow dropped during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase.
This is the second major expansion for Blasphemous 2 after Mea Culpa was released back in October 2024, but while that previous entry was paid DLC, The Third Sin is available as a completely free update to all players who own the base game.

The storyline for this expansion is set in a vast and remote castle within a region of Cvstodia that no mortal has set foot in before, where The Miracle eventually killed everyone except the Duchess. A wandering noble found her and they fell in love, but as he watched over her final breaths he found himself bound to her coffin by spectral nails, forever binding them to the castle and preventing them passing into the beyond.
This is where you arrive as The Penitent One to explore the new area, which is around a quarter of the size of the original map including Mea Culpa. Armed with a fresh whip weapon that can attack enemies as well as help you traverse platforms, you'll embark on four new sacred quests while battling a host of novel enemies and an additional boss. Use the new familiars system to call in aid, while invoking six additional prayers and figures to deliver penitence to your foes.
Blasphemous 2 - The Third Sin expansion is available now for free on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch 1, with a PlayStation 4 release to come at a later date – you can follow the game on X and Facebook for the latest updates on that.
