The REAL reason for Twisted Metal’s delay

So what’s the real story behind the recently announced delay of Twisted Metal? It’s actually got nothing do with adding additional features or modes. It’s all about polish and playtesting – key components in a game that’ll live or die based on how perfectly tuned it is.

Tune in to see the inimitable David Jaffe share his insights into his upcoming masterwork – a game he considers among his proudest accomplishments.

Oh, he also curses a lot. And describes me as a “baby in diapers.” And then asks you, dear viewers, to rate my interview performance. So…what say you?

Twisted Metal will be out Feb. 14, 2012, exclusively on PS3.

Should've kept the mic closer to him and be less timid.

Dudes a dick hole... Though you did give him good reason to beat up on you. Just sayin.

I though you should have been a little more aggresive. You kind of let him grill you and it should have been the other way around. Not bad though considering how big of a twat that guy is.

Hmm... I'd say around a 6 or 6.5. I mean, it wasn't bad at all, but there were a few stumbles that brought your down. But good job, Gary! You did well for your first, especially on such a top-notch designer. And Jaffe looks like a hoot to interview.

So it doesn't have anything todo with all the other games being released this fall? sure...
  • birdro - September 3, 2011 9:21 a.m.

Knob is censored? Like on a door? I don't really appreciate the levity of British insults as a Canadian but still... Game looks insane, sorta sad I can't play it. Has Sony just been sitting on Twisted Metal for this long, or was it an "old times sake" thing to make it exclusive?
  • birdro - September 3, 2011 9:23 a.m.

...Apparently not. The hell did the guy under me write?
  • wrapdump - September 3, 2011 3:43 a.m.

Wow I never realised Jaffe was suck a kn*b.

I am also agree with Longnuts but i have found a complete guide about this game and guides about my favorite game dragon age. I have learned how to play dragonage. However i was amazed to see Guidelines there.

Here's a tip to make your TWISTED METAL game more appealing. Remove the ability to mix and match drivers and vehicles. Seriously, this makes me not want to play the game. In fact, that was the whole point of Twisted Metal to me. I don't understand Jaffe's conclusion that the cars are at the center stage of the game anyway, so it doesn't matter who is driving them? Then why place such a strong emphasis of the character's stories in previous games? In Black, it was all about each character's twisted story and their motivation for winning. Their car was unique to their personality. I don't want Sweet Tooth driving somebody else's car, dammit, and I sure as hell don't want somebody else driving his demented ice cream truck! It just doesn't make sense to me.

And I'm sure you'd be the one complaining that it's just another rehash of the same thing if it was done that way. If you don't like it stay in the "right" car. If ti really bugs you that much don't buy the game.

this is one of the best showfloor interviews ive everseen. its not stuffed with PR bullsht like most of them are. i wasnt too convinced on this game but this sold me it lokks fantastic.
  • Longnuts - September 2, 2011 5:29 p.m.

If this game is as good as black, it will do all right!
  • Lemons - September 2, 2011 5:21 p.m.

I agree with the Jaffe, 7.5 - 8, need a little more confidence/direction, you're asking the questions bro. Also, that Nuke mode multi-player looks badass insane. Necessary to throw in the guided missile into giant robot bitch for points after getting your "flag" to your "side"? Not really. Awesome and fun as hell from a gameplay point of view and don't really see how it's never been added to any other game in the past? Yes, hell yes. If that's indicative of how much sweetness is going to be in the final product, consider me sold. Day one on this game baby, day f-ing one.

Ehhhh...I do broadcast, sorry Gary, gotta go with a 5.5 on this one.
