What's the nicest thing you can say about the Xbox One? I am glad they didn't included a gun such as the old NES. Considering the power of the hardware, the precision of the new Kinect, and the anti-consumer policy Microsoft is taking, it would certainly take control and shoot the user down in the first opportunity.

The nicest thing I have to say about the One: Taking into consideration that the reveal event was only an hour long and broadcast on live television it's easy to see that we, gamers, sure as hell were not the target demographic. This was a grab for mainstream attention. They knew that the average stream-watching IGN reader would recieve whatever news they released, whenever they choose to do so. If this assumption is true that means that all the real surprises are waiting to be revealed at a later date. Potentially at some kind of giant media summit where all the core gamers are watching. Something like E3. The nicest thing about the One is the potentially non-excistent stuff we have yet to see. I want to believe that the real show is still comming. So in a backwards way, what I am trying to say is: The best thing about the One right now is hope for the future. Tl:dr: The One brings Hope.

QOTW: Engineers and programmers have created some innovative applications for the original kinect. The new kinect has much more potential beyond gaming and I am excited to see what new applications the technology brings. My ideas below are mostly in earnest. Kinect 2.0 will enhance life quality by 200% with the release of Kinect Family Life. This package includes many features for all of the family to enjoy: 1. Kinect's heat beat sensor can detect heart attacks and failure, and will instantly alert family/friends/neighbours/emergency services via mobile phone. 2. Key/wallet/TV remote/Mobile phone locator. Kinect recognises and tracks these easy to lose items. If the lost item is still in the room it can display an image of where it was last seen. If it is not in the room it will save you up to 30 minutes of turning the room upside down. 3. Home security. WIth xbox always on standby, kinect is always watching. Facial recognician software will identify intruders into your living room whilst you are asleep or away from home. The xbox will sound an alarm alerting you to the intrudors presence. 4. Heartbreak buddy. Your teenage son/daughter upset over losing their first love? Xbox uses facebook photos of their ex to make light of their break up. See your ex be eaten by a shark, trampled by an elephant or fall into a volcano! Mood tracking monitors you to find ways to make you smile again. 5. Pet entertainer. Pet cat or dog tearing up the house while you are at work? Entertain them using Kinect dog/cat tracking. Kinect responds to dog barks/cat meows with interactive animals on screen. Can also make you dog think he is part of a larger pack, the Kinect Alpha dog will keep him in line. 6. Language Teacher. The latest in voice recongnition is combined with your favorite TV to help you learn new languages. Record your favorite show, watch it in a foreign language and play each section back with you speaking the lines. Xbox will rate you and show areas to improve. Achievements included. Xbox One, more than a gaming machine.

oh and: 7. Adulterous partner? With always on xbox and Kinect facial recognition, catch you unawares partner in the act!

For the most part I am holding out final judgment till after the E3 press conference. What I am excited for though is the snap. I enjoy watching Netflix on my iPad or computer while playing games so it would be great if I could do that on the same screen or look up guides and FAQs right their while the game is playing.

This podcast was awesome as usual. I definitely remember that video Henry, it was called "Reggie's Wrath" Also right on sales this year, though here's a achievement tidbit, LUIGI actually beat Judgement and Ascension in total sales worldwide. As for QOTW: My honest answer, I really like the push Microsoft has for pushing the Xbox one as being more than a gaming console, it's really clear they want a media system, they just didn't execute it well when they ignored the games otherwise I admire their intentions. As for the joke answer, After the Conference, Sony and especially Nintendo's stocks rose by a significant amount. So I guess you can say "Xbox One does what Nintendont" Sell Wii U's without effort

I'm pretty sure I could use the Xbox One as a Sledgehammer if I ever need to get some construction done. Then when I'm done I can watch The Walking Dead or something

Blu ray functionality. Bluray was such a feature on the PS3 and continues on the PS4. I don't get why microsoft didn't add blu ray to its redesign last year or why nintendo didn't add bluray to the wiiu, but it's just about time this became standard feature. Also the price is right being featured in a major gaming press conference is fantastic. Also this whole situation is great for Nintendo. With such a poor reveal it could be time for nintendo to pounce with a great nintendo direct.

nicest part of the xbone reveal was that the console is shaped like a line block from TETRIS
  • ShadowOps117 - May 25, 2013 7:17 a.m.

It gives me a whole new reason to buy a PS4! Thanks Microsoft!
  • PatHan-bHai - May 25, 2013 7:05 a.m.

The nicest thing I can say is.............I might buy it--when I die!
  • SpadesSlick - May 25, 2013 6:51 a.m.

A lot of gamers might have scoffed at this, but fantasy sports are an immensely huge business (Over 32 Million people ages 12 and up play fantasy sports in the U.S. and Canada), that is absolutely HUGE. A great deal of those people (myself included) are going to enjoy the fuck out of that integration with ESPN, and the ability to see highlights of players on your team can help greatly with scouting and potential trades. I am really looking forward to that, and so is a large percentage of the north american market. Fantasy sports is basically an augmented reality game anyways.
  • SpadesSlick - May 25, 2013 6:53 a.m.

I should also mention it's a four billion dollar industry. That seems worthy of note.
  • magatsu - May 25, 2013 5:55 a.m.

The best thing about Xbox One is that Sony can see the backlash of this, and not make the same choices. Other wise this will be the first console generation where i don't buy one.
  • DeeEss - May 25, 2013 2:12 a.m.

I have a problem with what Cooper said about used game sales ripping the companies off. Let me say, I don't buy used games, since I only use PC nowadays, but here's my problem. Whenever gamers complain that the latest game that came out has been dumbed down for casual gamers, the publisher immediately hides behind he market. The market dictates that it will only sell if it has the broadest possible appeal. Well, that should go both ways, because that very same market suggests that people who buy used games aren't willing to pay full price for the games. There's nothing illegal about buying used games. Cake and eat and all that...
  • Shinn - May 24, 2013 10:23 p.m.

One nice thing I have to say is that I think it's great that the next Witcher game will be releasing on the Xbox One, simply because it will be drm free on all other platforms and I find that hilarious.
  • Shinn - May 24, 2013 10:28 p.m.

I guess it's also nice that Microsoft has clearly made an effort to put their console of equal footing with a gaming PC, and it's so successful that I don't feel at all pressured into purchasing the Xbox One; as I'm primarily a PC gamer and I already have a nice midrange gaming rig.
  • BladedFalcon - May 24, 2013 9:51 p.m.

*Just finished listening to the podcast* o_____________________O Wow... I did not expect that you guys, hahaha XD Also, hi Henry! Glad to know you notice! hopefully I'm not being too annoying for you? :P
  • dns - May 24, 2013 9:50 p.m.

The best thing I can say about XONE is that it made me more convict of my choice of next-gen consoles: PC + Wii U (As well a bit of 3DS and something on my Nexus)
