Psychonauts coming to PSN as PS2 classic

Sony announced today via the PlayStation Blog that the Double Fine classic platformer Psychonauts will be returning to modern consoles via a release on the PlayStation Network as a PS2 classic.

Though some have derided Psychonauts for its technical issues, many other critics have long praised its imagination and unique vision. The Tim Schafer classic features a young psychic named Raz who enters the minds of his camp counselers to unravel the mystery behind the Whispering Rock Summer Camp for psychic children.

Each level was based on the psyche of each particular character like the conspiracy-obsessed Milkman (the most memorable stage of the game) and the non-stop party inside the mind of Sasha Nein.

Psychonauts will be releasing on the PSN next Tuesday, August 28. It has previously been released on the Xbox, PS2, PC, Mac, and Linux.

Small detail here: Sasha Nein does NOT have a non-stop party in his mind. You might have meant to say Milla Vodello, the lass on the far right. She's the one who's brains can't stop boogeying.

I'm almost definitely going to have to pick this up- especially since the Mac Steam version I got in the last Humble Bundle two months ago STILL hasn't had all the graphical and technical faults fixed, despite repeated reassurances from DoubleFine that it'll be 'soon'...

I always liked the Sea Monster level, but there's no question The Milkman Conspiracy is the most unique.

Also it's been a downloadable on xbox360 as an xbox classic... since the begining! that would have been more relevant to mention than xbox and ps2.

Funny how they didn't mention that when they said "to modern consoles", huh? Or that it's also BC on 360 (because I still have the original disk and that's how I play it). But it's a good thing "modern consoles" will have this returned to them. Again. :/

It's a crime this game didn't sell when it first came out. It's quite possibly the best 3D platformer ever made. Absolutely brilliant game.

this is brilliant! Pyschonauts for me, was that rare game which forced me to find everything. I did it with pride too. Truly, the best release by doublefine during that generation...

Dear writer, You are wrong. Sasha had a shooting range in the form of cube, his brain was all neat and organized. The disco party and the jumping spheres were in the Milla's head. Also most memorable part is questionable - that's your own preferences and perception. I think all levels were brilliant. You can't say Napoleon board game were worse than Milkman or worse than a fish level. And a meat circus was super intense but camera more was dreadful.
