PS Vita is like a woman with 4 breasts, according to this French advertisement. Wait... WHAT?

PlayStation Vita needs some publicity. But probably not this sort of publicity. Designed to highlight the fact that the machine has touch sensitve areas on the front and back, this French magazine advert implies such functionality is exactly like a four-breasted woman. You know, cos she'd have touch sensitive areas on... oh, OK, you already understood that.

The picture appeared on Twitter and came from this Yfrog page and doesn't appear to be anywhere else, so we can't vouch for it's authenticity, although we have contacted Sony to ask (we'll update this story with any response). But it does look real, given the professionalism of the image. What do you make of it? A clever advertising idea combining titillation and controversy while highlighting a product's unique selling point? Or a hopelessly misogynistic and embarassing conceptual leap? Let us know in the comments.

"front and back touch panels is like a woman with breasts on her front and her back. Someone stop the world, we want to get off..." Is this Kotaku?

Grotesque. I can only imagine if this is real, it won't be for much longer. Sometimes you just have to scratch your head and wonder how these things stick to the wall of ideas. Is this how gamers come still come across in this day and age. I am an adult and I prefer to be treated as one, especially in a marketing campaign asking me to dole out hundreds of dollars on whatever it is they are selling.

The more the merrier, plus it's French, they love that shit. Though if they tried that in America all hell would break loose.

So if we were to spin this advertisement towards women, the two new thumb-sticks would be like a guy with two Johns?

We all know that Sony's marketing team is run by a bunch of adolescent chimps so this doesn't come as a surprise.

I am entirely OK with this analogy as an advertising strategy. If you aren't, at least it's not psychic baby dolls. Though it is nearly as surreal.

Sexiest, no. Funny, kinda... People are too sensitive.

    I'M SOLD. Err, ahem.

Well from that angle, you can't really know for sure that she has 4. She could have 3, like the chick from Total Recall.

Saw the new one last night, it was tits... heh heh

It is meant to draw you in with its sexual undertones but I wouldn't call it misogynist. The image is too weird to make an actual expression on women.

I'm gonna go with the 2nd option there Mr. Towell. It sucks that the Vita isn't doing better; it really is an awesome device.

All the more to fondle :D
  • taokaka - November 1, 2012 4:21 a.m.

I think they should take it a step further and have the four breasted woman fill in for Kevin Butler as the vice president of everything now he's gone.

Wouldn't you be more into this stuff? I mean, you have an obsession with the friggin BOOBIE LADY for crying out loud!
