Postal III tearing out a throat with a badger near you in early 2011. Probably

Admit it, you were convinced this was vapourware by now, weren't you? We were beginning to wonder too. But apparently Postal III is still a living, breathing entity, and currently aiming for a Q1 2011 release. And yes, you can still kill people with a rabid badger. And yes, Uwe Boll is still in it.

Pretend you're not intrigued.

Speaking to Joystiq, Vince Desi, boss of Postal dev Running With Scissors, revealed "It's in the final stages in Moscow, I don't think it will come out this Christmas". Well missing Christmas is hardly a surprise if the thing isn't even finished yet. Seriously guys, what have you been doing for the last seven years? But whatever they've been up to, Desi currently has Quarter 1 of 2011 eyed for release.

It's going to be an interesting one. Postal has long prided itself on being the bad boy of the games industry, thiriving on notoriety and bad taste value as much as anything else - but building a loyal fan base regardless. But how will it fare now that seven years have diluted its profile somewhat? And games have changed a lot since Postal 2. Excessive violence and gore now come as default, and games are a much more accepting adult medium in general.

Will a new Postal have the impact or success of the old ones? It's all going to come down to how funny it is and how well it plays. And we'll let you know both of those things as soon as we get a chance.

That screenshot looks like something from a PS2 launch title. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Am I the only person who thinks this is just cashing in too now that Duke Nukem Forever is going to be finished? "Well, they're finishing theirs, so maybe if we finish ours we can compete!" Answer to that last section, no. RWS, you cannot, will not, compete. I'm going ahead and calling epic failure on this game.

The first one was isometric. The second one was first-person. Now this one is third-person? WTF RWS, make up your minds!

FOX News? What about them Californian asshats and/or SCOTUS? Doesn't look like a good time for this, considering most of the arguments revolved around Postal 2.

Yeah, I was convinced it was vapourware. But bloody hell, it's about time this came out! I've been waiting ages for this. Postal 2 no longer installs on my PC but I had a ton of fun with that game. All the ridiculous and over-the-top violence just made that game funny - like you'd smash someone's head off with a shovel and boot the head down the street, then your dog would go fetch the head and bring it back... then you'd piss on the head... then the dog... then end up running down the street pissing in everyones face. Was it sick? Yes, but bugger me sideways with a cactus if I didn't have fun.

FOX News is gonna have a field day.

Given Postal2s painfully unfunny attempt at satire I was hoping this would never see the light of day.
