Since it was announced last month, the sequel to the fifth core Pokemon generation, Pokemon Black and White Version 2, has been shrouded in mystery. Now the official Japanese web page for the game has been updated, bringing with it new images and a brand new trailer. Watch:

Of the new information confirmed s that the game's plot is entirely original and takes place around two years after the last game and you play as entirely new trainers with new friends and rivals. Though the setting is still Unova, you'll explore new parts of it, starting with the new hero's hometown. Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott are still your starters, but from the look of the screens, it appears the previous generations of Pokemon will be available much earlier. Also in the above gallery you'll see a couple of the new Gym Leaders and other characters you'll meet along the way.

The US/UK release date hasn't been set yet, though it'll be out in Japan June 23. Hopefully, after this explosion of new info in Japan, the American side will give us some new details soon.

I'm surprised they haven't released a proper 3DS pokemon game yet. I know it's easier to make money by just rehashing pokemon every year. I (in a way) think Pokemon is even worse than Call of Duty in terms of rehashing because Pokemon has been doing it for ageeeeeeeeees but Call of Duty has only been doing it since COD4. They made no effort with "Fire red" and "Leaf Green" and now they're making even less of an effort by just adding "2" on the end of the titles and adding legendary Pokemon that don't look that much different from the original Black and White legendaries. I may not sound very informed about all of this and that's probably because I GAVE UP half way through Pokemon White.

Jeez, Pokemon is a game about capturing completely realistic animals and using them in super tournaments, but by golly those damn trainers don't look like realistic people... Seriously guys? If you are looking for realism, why are you playing Pokemon? I can't wait for White 2! "Catch 'em all, Let Oak sort them out"

The guy in the fourth picture......hmmm... "This is my normal form....*brrng* this is a super saiyan, *brnnnng* and this is a super saiyan has has gone beyond the power of a super saiyan, a super saiyan 2" "What a useless transformation, you canged your hair, so what?" "heheh, AND THIS, IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND! HRWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-" had to be said. Also, new gym leaders? Tat's a nice change of pace, instead of just using the same ones from the last game. Although I would've preferred a direct sequel, which took off immediatly where you left off, with the same trainer, possibly using a sonic and knuckles-esque DS lock-on feature, although that probably wouldn't of worked anyway.

They could have released the entire Skyrim frame by frame and still have fewer screenshots than these guys released for this game on its reveal. Might as well release the game.

Why a random picture of Metagross that looks like it's been floating around since Gen 3? Yes we know what he looks like. Have for a while now. Also, some of the characters' hair is getting ridiculous. Not quite as bad as what's-her-name from RE: Revelations who had it completely obscuring her vision, but ridiculous nonetheless.

Too much hair. There better be more new pokemon aside the kyurem forms. not counting the 3 legends theyve neglected to let be downloadable so far.

There won't be since its not a new region and they have to keep the games compatible with B/W

Jesus christ the trainer designs are getting worse and worse. They look different than the usual, but still, that's really bad. At least in the previous games you could think "I could probably see someone walking down the street and not cosplaying, and he would look similar to that." But now, not really. Dammit Game Freak just make a 3DS Pokemon already, I want my polygonal models and 3rd person camera.

I like the girls, but the guys is way too much. I thought b/w were america based, I dont see too many people like these, unlike the first b/w trainers
