Podcast: TalkRadar UK #49

Lend it your ears:

Once more friends, it is time for the GamesRadar UK team to sit around a microphone and spout gloriously tangental, occasionally informative nonsense about games for the delight and disbelief of your noble eardrums. Taking up this week's talking duties is the verbal triforce of Matt Cundy, Justin Towell and 'Uncle' Dave Meikleham. Give it a listen. Pac-Man and Ewoks ensue. As well as:

*The News! - In which Meiks turns not knowing anything about fighting games into a veritable art form, and Matt discusses Valve's mistaken banning of Modern Warfare 2 players using the medium of robot noises.
*Question of the Week - Which you answered. Your answers were to the question If you could own any arcade cabinet, what would it be, and why?
*What the team are currently playing - Justin opts for Darkstalkers, while Matt and Meiks go for the dark, existential delights of Limbo. Hilarity ensues.
*GamesRadar Hotline - Where we translate your text and vocal noises into linguistic meaning, and then respond with noises of our own.

Also, fan art!

Because we have some now, from you wonderful people on the forums. So we thought it was about time we honoured it on the front page. It is fantastic, and makes all cheery and warm, so keep it coming please.

I would give it a solid 7 out of 10. Which is like a C. If it was a hundred point system I would say 75 to make it even more solid. I mean no rolling on the floor laughing but it wasnt bad. You didnt do bad in any way but you didnt strive for the gold. But dont feel bad because I would never give a game an A+ so my scale is pretty harsh and pretty much everything below 50 doesnt really exist unless in the most extreme circumstances. Justin did a good job but I miss Nathans smooth and sexy voice 0.~

Can i have a job at Games Radar? I've no qualifications in journalism and no experience in the games industry but i'm sure as hell i could make a better contribution to this podcast than Dave Meikleham. Clueless goon. Ratings: Justin - 9/10 - Nice job on running the podcast. Cundy - 8/10 - Always good entertainment & knows his stuff. Dave Meikleham - 2/10 - Clueless goon.

Brilliant stuff as always fellas, lookin forward to seeing what ya pull out for TRuk 50... If anything at all that is . :P ratings? Well: Justin gets 9/10... Managed to come across as a worthy host even if he never managed to keep cundy under control, but can anyone? Loses a point for managing to start a convo about an operating system for the iPhone however, shame on you. Matt 9.9/10... On top form as always, though no perfect marks for the lack of cockney shouting! Meiks 10/10... Comes across as nothing but a bumbling ass, which in my opbion makes for quality entertainment. :) The man certainly knows how to dig himself a hole, listening to him try and claw his way out though us hilarious. Keep up the good works guys... Who needs nath eh?

I can't wait to listen because Meiks is back!
  • JohnnyMaverik - July 29, 2010 5:53 a.m.

Sorry, I guess I should have said issue not episode... double post FTW, looking forward to TRUK 50. Peace out.
  • JohnnyMaverik - July 29, 2010 5:51 a.m.

Finished, Justin and Dave get a 9 each and Matt gets a 10 because he's my favourite. Overall I'd give the episode 3 bananas and half a peach...

Another very entertaining podcast, irrespective of it being Justin's first time hosting. As for the requested personal ratings: Justin: 9/10 - always provides good information, too polite at times! Matt: 8/10 - very funny as always but points docked for lack of "you mugging me off" comment. Dave: 8/10 - excellent effort, especially in the news section. I think Talk Radar UK is brilliant and one of 3 gaming shows I listen to (Gamespot UK and IGN UK being the others). Not interested in the shouty, know-it-all Yank gaming podcasts. Podcast 50 from the pub would be brilliant! Cheers.

Also. Yay! Another shout-out! Shout-outs make me feel warm and fuzzy inside :D :P
  • breener96 - July 29, 2010 1:15 a.m.

Just finished listening and so I'm going to rate ye, lads! Justin: 10/10, you lovable fecker! Mainly because your voice is awesome but that's not it. Matt: 9/10 for making me laugh constantly, as usual. Dave: 9/10 for making me laugh but more laughing at that with :P All in all, great 'cast. Actually, I've never really thought that any 'cast that ye've done has been in anyway below average :)

  • LordsOfTechno - July 28, 2010 9:07 p.m.

Yet another great podcast guys; and now there's even awesome fan-art! Hopefully it's a regular addition to the TDarUK podcast pages. :D
  • TheIceman - July 28, 2010 7:23 p.m.

That's some cracking art there, except for that slightly disturbing last one. And a great podcast as usual guys, nice work!
  • breener96 - July 28, 2010 4 p.m.

It's great to see that the fan-art caught someone's eye :) Thank 510BrotherPanda for making it! And also, today is a great day! I'm just back from Toy Story 3, I got a graphic novel that I've been waiting for and now this! :D
  • joshin69 - July 28, 2010 3:41 p.m.
