A videogame history of bullet-timeOne of the longest lines at PAX 2010 wasn't to play anything, but to see a live demo of Portal 2’s co-op mode. Valve only showed a few of the mode’s puzzles, but we can say pretty assuredly that it’ll be another beloved addition to Portal's universe. You'll probably see fan-made plushies of the adorable co-op robots before the game even releases...

Above: The final DLC chapter for Dragon Age: Origins finds you in pursuit of Morrigan
Witch Hunt marks the beginning of the end for Dragon Age: Origins. The downloadable adventure will be the last DLC BioWare releases for the original Dragon Age and finds you in pursuit of one of our favorite party members, the saucy, shapeshifter Morrigan…
The impossible has happened. Twelve years of delays are at an end. Come inside for an expletive-filled account of the biggest surprise PAX 2010 has to offer.
My first experience with Medal of Honor's multiplayer was with the PS3 beta. I was intrigued but not-quite-convinced. Since then, multiplayer developer DICE (EALA is handling the campaign) has made a host of improvements, most notably to the game's graphics, balance, and hit detection. Those improvements, as well as a new mode, were playable on PC here at PAX. I was only able to play one match, so my impressions are limited, but here's how it felt...
Have you been following the plot of the F.E.A.R series? Ha ha, that was a joke. As much as I enjoyed the first two games, about all I know is that Alma is creepy and psychic, Point Man and his brother, Paxton Fettel, are her sons, and she’s pregnant again (which is a bad thing). That’s why Point Man and Fettel team up to stop her womanly processes in F.E.A.R 3, and that’s a little different – action game as it may be, F.E.A.R.'s horror-ey elements make the “buddy cop” thing seem out of place. At least, that's what I thought at first (ugh, does everything have to be co-op?), but after playing a level as the ghost of Fettel, I’m pretty sure it isn’t quite like that...
As dedicated members of the gaming press, we often attend promotional events sponsored by game publishers. These events generally include the following: booze, extra large t-shirts, attractive women who bring you tiny hamburgers, the opportunity to talk to people who are working on a game and (possibly) the opportunity to play selected parts of a game.
One such event occurred this very week, and predictably included all of the above. See for yourself...
Brink is pretty fun. It might be really fun, but it's hard to form a concrete opinion after stepping up to the plate on the PAX showfloor without a moment of preparation. While the game was accessible enough that I was leaping over boxes and ripping up the other team on my first spawn, it's the kind of game that will reward players who take some time to study its intricacies. So here was my experience, in a shotgun shell - if you want a more detailed description of the game's features, check out some of our previous previews...
