This whole next gen business is so pointless. If developers are gonna be supporting the 360 and PS3 for the next 2-3 years, why isn't the next gen in 1-2 years? It all feels rushed.

It is always that way. If they launched two years from now, everyone would still support the older platform for a couple of years.

Yeeeeaaaah I guess. I'm just still so incredibly satisfied with the current soon to be last gen that the jump seems unnecessary. Sure they'll be awesome, but only after devs truly harness the power of these machines. I'm just rambling at this point.

I do agree with you though--I've said it before myself. This "leap" doesn't feel that significant. Which is strange because the last gen has lasted a lot longer than any previous gen. If the best that can be said is more polygons and 60 FPS and a bunch of other side features like gameDVR (not new, just "integrated"), I'm similarly underwhelmed.

The lack of MP3 playback kind of confuses me. On the PS3 you can often get game soundtracks from either the store or your disc, so removing audio file playing is... just weird.

It also doesn't support external hard drives for some reason.
