New Ocarina of Time 3DS screens and classic high-res art

Just one day after its official release date was announced (June 19), Ocarina of Time 3D returns to the spotlight with a batch of new screens and some deliciously high-res art we haven't seen since the N64 days. There's not much else to say, really - take a peek below and hit our viewer for the full size versions!

Above: Link meeting Epona as a child at Lon Lon Ranch

Above: Gone fishin' - notice the extra detail on Link and even the fish

Above: Ganondorf's first appearance in Hyrule Castle

Above: Jabu Jabu, whose innards make up the third "dungeon." His insides look immensely better in the 3DS version, lots of extra detail and animations

Above: Moments before becoming adult Link

Above: A great close-up look at Link. That's the in-game model, compared to...

Above: This thing from the N64 era

Above: Perhaps the most memorable piece of art from the original. I recall it from a certain strategy guide

Above: The new box art for Ocarina 3DS

Above: Ganondorf atop his horse, staring down at a child Link

I spent some time playing the latest build of Ocarina 3D and can totally vouch for its beauty. I've already compared the N64 and 3DS versions to each other, but this time Nintendo itself had the GameCube port running side by side to fully show off the new levels of detail in the 3DS version. Strangely, it didn't provide shots of the village, which looks astonishingly better on 3DS.

For even more newness, check out the Japanese site, which dropped this piece of art not included in the US press blast

Knowing that this game was coming out for 3DS, it was the MAIN reason I pre-ordered one. Ha! I don't even have any 3DS games yet. I have been playing the "best 3DS game so far"... Pokemon Black and White.
  • lonewolf13 - April 14, 2011 11:54 p.m.

I can't wait for this game to come out even though I don't have a 3DS!
  • MetaMoss - April 14, 2011 11:34 p.m.

I've been waiting and working for a portable Ocarina since, like FOREVER. The human sacrifices have paid off... I mean the dark witchcraft... I mean the fan letters to Nintendo. Yeah.

Why does everything except Link still look kind of jagged? It looks like Link was the ONLY thing they bothered changing... Kind of disappointing.
  • SausageLozenge - April 14, 2011 7:51 p.m.

Not sure why people like shitting on the 64.
  • metroid2099400 - April 14, 2011 4:44 p.m.

Where can I find that last image in wallpaper size? I checked the link, but all it had was an (admittedly cool) pseudo-3D version.

@ThatsWhatSheSaid If you look closely you'll see that his arms are closer to the camera than his body, placing them in the foreground of the screenshot. This effect will look a lot better in 3D.
  • ThatsWhatSheSaid - April 14, 2011 12:50 p.m.

do you not find Link to be disturbing to look at? I mean, look at his arms and hands , there're HUGE, same size as his head ... creepy
  • philipshaw - April 14, 2011 11:53 a.m.

Can't wait for this, only thing I'm playing on 3DS now is pokemon White so I should be done with that by the time this comes out
  • EnragedTortoise1 - April 14, 2011 11:35 a.m.

Aaaaand I won't be getting it until it drops in price (which it never will). Because honestly, I don't feel the need to, what with Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, and DOA Dimensions within the same few months (not to mention I won't have the money anyway...

Between this and the "Flying Enormous Breast Drama Hyper Battle" game Dave Houghton previewed yesterday, how could anyone NOT want to go out and buy a 3DS??
  • Balaska - April 14, 2011 10:31 a.m.

Ah, goodness knows how many times I have completed this game, even managed a time of under 17 hours once in one sitting (I DON'T recommend doing that BTW)but this really tempts me, definately one of the top 3 games ever made.
  • CitizenWolfie - April 14, 2011 10:30 a.m.

I never finished the original (or GC port at least) as it was becoming pretty dated even back then. But this looks great, I remember reading previously that they've redone a lot of the dungeons/temples too so I'm looking forward to it. One of the main reasons I bought a 3DS. Lets hope Wind Waker 3D is on the cards eh?
  • Cyber6x - April 14, 2011 8:44 a.m.

I want that last image full sized!
  • shawksta - April 14, 2011 4:22 a.m.

This is like dieing and going to heaven, the models looks so great especially Ganondorph, Looks how badass he is compared to his original that i made: I cant wait for this game, and what with Masterquest, HOLY SHIT ^_^
  • mackshizzle - April 14, 2011 3:21 a.m.

Nintendo just made me want to get a 3DS next month. And I know America is the ungrateful bastard offspring of Great Britain, but why the 2 day delay hate? reCaptcha: totity eternalism So that's why....
  • minimaxi - April 14, 2011 3:14 a.m.

I don't care about the 3D. what I care is I didn't have a 64 and basically the game everyone said was TEH BEST EVAR just got better. but I'm reserving my funds for PSP2... gah I'll just wait till 3DS lite launches (or a price drop) :(
  • Averagegamer18 - April 14, 2011 3:07 a.m.

Man this is so cool. The only reason I would consider getting a 3DS is for this game; and man it looks just amazing; I hope the music will all be remastered and sound just great. I am excited for this to come out; cause my friend owns a 3DS so I will just mooch lol but the artwork of Ganon looking at Child link would be cool box art
  • sirdilznik - April 14, 2011 2:51 a.m.

Holy smokes those screens look terrific! They look better than a good number of PS2 games, granted 3DS graphics are on a much smaller screen. Oh man imagine how good those screens will look in ThreeeeeeDeeeeeee? *thinks* ...Nnnngh... Excuse me I have to go change my tidy whities. reCaptcha=upaid Schaefer. Frankly I wouldn't pay for Schaefer beer.
  • xDxP - April 14, 2011 2:36 a.m.

I do not like how new Link looks, I think maybe the bad graphics made me ignore how lame looking child Link was as a child. Oh well.
