Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has already earned rave reviews from the lucky few who have gotten to see it at previews, but one person who won't be attending the show any time soon is Daniel Radcliffe. The actor portrayed the infamous wizard in eight feature films, but when he stopped by Stephen Colbert's show earlier this week he offered a good reason for why he won't be checking out the theatre production just yet:

"I want to see the show, I am genuinely intrigued and I hear it’s fantastic. I just feel like sitting in an audience that will, for the most part of the near future, be very enthusiastic Harry Potter fans might not be a…relaxing way to see a show. So, I guess, not for the time being".

Check it out below (head to 4:45 for the Harry Potter talk)...

  • Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Dorothy, and Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz Daniel Radcliffe pitched a Wizard of Oz remake alongside his Harry Potter co-stars

I can definitely see where Radcliffe is coming from here; while fans may enjoy the irony of watching Harry Potter watching Harry Potter while they watch Harry Potter, it could prove a little distracting for everyone. Given the positive reaction to the play so far, hopefully Radcliffe will don a disguise and head to a showing sooner rather than later. Probably best to go with something other than a pair of glasses this time round though.

Starring Jamie Parker, Paul Thornley, and Noma Dumezweni, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens on July 30, 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London.
