Need for Speed: The Run shoes a “great fit,” says Adidas

Electronics Arts has announced a partnership with Adidas to produce a limited edition run of exclusive Need for Speed: The Run branded Superstar shoes. Billed by EA as “iconic,” the adidas shoes will also appear on the feet of NFSTR’s protagonist Jack Rourke in the upcoming story-driven racer.

The first 50 pairs of the limited edition Need for Speed: The Run shoes will go on sale on October 10 at the adidas Originals Chicago store. The first ten people to buy a pair will receive a ticket to a “kick-off” event on October 12, featuring DJ Neil Armstrong and Kids These Days and hands-on time with the game.

A second kick-off event is scheduled the adidas store in San Francisco. On October 22, the first 20 people to pick up a pair of NFSTR shoes will receive a ticket to the event scheduled for October 27 at the store, where Mick Boogie will be headlining the event.

“When we heard about Need for Speed The Run, we felt like it was a great fit with our brand and our core consumer, as Need for Speed shares our same vision of striving to be the leading lifestyle brand in their respective industry,” said Simon Atkins, head of Sport Style Division at adidas North America, in a prepared statement.

Need for Speed: The Run is scheduled to release on November 15 in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. If you happen to get a pair of these limited edition NFSTR shoes, you can look forward to playing a driving game with running while wearing shoes and sitting when November rolls by.

Well, that's certainly helpful seeing as how I live in Chicago. Oh, the 10th is already over? Thanks...

I'm not really a fan of that shoe style plus this is one of the oddest tie in deals I've seen. I understood the reasoning for the swimsuit models but this is a real head scratcher

Releasing shoes in collaboration with a driving game. Gotta love the irony.

I think it's a tribute to the part of the game everyone was so excited about - the running bits. You know, the ones you play a driving game for? The ones that aren't actually supposed to be that intrusive? And now you can buy shoes to commemorate it. Yay...
