MotorStorm Apocalypse to be released April 12th

Get your obscene taunts ready, break out the 3D glasses, and Google the latest trash-talking curse words because MotorStorm Apocalypse is getting all suited up for a PS3 near you.

Sony today confirmed the release date of the latest in the MotorStorm framily. With an April 12, 2011 release, it falls into the company's previously promised spring 2011 time frame.

"The game just had a great showing at the Sony booth at CES last week, wowing people with its mind-blowing 3D and intense racing across, and through, gigantic skyscrapers," wrote associate product marketing manager Brian Dunn in a PlayStation Blog post.

Apocalypse is the full-blown version of Sony's MotorStorm 3D demo that hit the PlayStation Store early last year. It was one of the flagship pieces of 3D content available on the PS3, so this is kind of a pet project for Sony's 3D team.

Okay, so that's for the 0.5% of PS3 owners who have a 3D TV. For everyone else, Apocalypse brings new bikes, more original off-road tracks, and a lot of planned future DLC.

Additionally, there's a brand new photo mode, in which players can take shots of the expansive environments throughout the game.

So heres my beef with Motorstorm.I got the 80gig bundle way back when. I played the game and I just could not win one single race. What is with that. I'm amazing at Racing games. So how come I sucked at this particular series?

I've been lucky enough to have ten minutes playing this one and while the 3D was the most impressive I've seen in gaming terms it was the frenetic gaming itself that left the big impression. IDK whether you get the same incidents each time you race each track but would it be good to have that anyway? You need to learn them and the shortcuts so even though it might seem cool I'm possibly more down with them being the same every time. Anyway, some of the new vehicle classes look coo,l and there's a ton more chance for knocking oppo off the road/skyscraper and the changing environments and fighting factions make it more mad than ever-I wasn't that bothered til I'd played a little but now it's a must buy for me and I've not been bothered since the first one as PR seemed more of the same while this is a real step forwards for the off roader-even if some of it's on the road!! Great game from the taste I've had-and I was expecting very little.

Very cool, i think it will be a better attempt at what Split/Second tried to be. (not say split/second is bad) Also, Motorstorm always has the coolest looking boxart, its awesome.

I love the MotorStorm games, gonna play this one without 3D though.
