This batch of new screens for PC game Medieval II: Total War shows just how varied the units you'll be able to field can get.
The screens for the gigantic real-time strategy war game show knights, horses in armour, pikemen, archers... but our favourite has to be the armoured elephants, lumbering like living tanks across the battlefield, with carrying space for more offensive troops.
We've already had the pleasure of commanding elephantine columns in Rome: Total War, but this will be the first time that plate-mailed pachyderms have stormed the battlefields of Medieval's hostile world. And in case that doesn't stir your bloodlust in preparation for the game's November release date, why not try reading our latest hands-on with the stonkingly big war sim.
