Metallica: Through The Never review

Concert movies tend to appeal only to fans of the subjects – just try getting a non-aficionado to sit through Neil Young: Heart Of Gold – but surely execution still matters?

Lovers of Metallica may feel frustrated, then, by this would-be definitive document of their live show, which betrays a lack of faith in its own stars. A bizarre fictional side-plot to the gig sees Dane DeHaan as a roadie sent to fetch a package during some ill-defined social calamity.

It’s a histrionic distraction from the band doing their thing. Watch Some Kind Of Monster instead.
