Mass Effect 3 Epilogue DLC out now for Xbox 360

The highly controversial, yet much anticipated epilogue DLC expansion for MAss Effect 3 has officially launched on Xbox 360 today. Hopefully this added clarification can offer some moment of solace to ME3 fans who felt slighted by a (according to them) sloppy ending.

When ME3 launched last March the outcry was almost instant. Fans who had invested large swaths of time in the series, and had become emotionally invested in the characters felt that the ending did not do justice to the series. In fact, many alleged that the ending simply didn't make any sense under any level of scrutiny.

Bioware controversially responded by saying that they would be clarifying their original set of endings with an epilogue DLC that would provide added closure for long-time fans. They said the ending would not fundamentally change, but they agreed that some clarification was in order.

To that end, today they released a whopping 1.9GB DLC pack with four new endings (which we'll post shortly,) which are already up on the internet if you want to save yourself the trouble of actually playing the game. Hopefully this pack can bandage the wound in the ME fan community. Though we have a feeling this is only the beginning of a brand new controversy.

The PC and PS3 versions of the epilogue should be out some time today.

Why am I expecting the epilogue to piss me off even more than the actual ending...

Ugh. Bioware was given a perfect "out" with the Indoctrination Theory and didn't take advantage of it. It was something that made perfect sense for the entire series and worked beautifully on an artistic level. To me it was either that or the ending (and a lot of ME3) was simply THAT poorly written. With these extended cuts, I now see it's the latter. Too bad.

Just seen all of them, and it's ridiculously good. The bonus ending was pretty touching as well. Good stuff. +1 back to respect.

Yep, just watched them all as well... And really, this IS how the endings should have been in the first place, if this is the route they intended in the first place. I mean, it's still their vision, but they actually feel different now, and even if they are just in slides, they are still acknowledging some of the other decisions you made. For example, I already know that once I get to play it for myself, a LOT of the slides there are gonna change in my renegade run, (hehehe...) And that's a kind of difference that, albeit small, wasn't found in the first iteration. So yeah, the overall concept of the ending still had problems, but at least now I can believe this IS how they intended it, and that they just didn't half ass it, which is frankly, how the first endings felt.

I just watched all three new endings on youtube, much better than the original endings.

    Lets see how this goes...

Wasn't impressed. And to the two who posted before me, I'll "bitch" and "whine" all I want. It was a bad ending. Normally for a game I'd appreciate the gameplay and feel like I've had fun. But this is a series I've poured massive amounts of time into, and to have it end like this is just massively disappointing.

Yeah... With a thing like this, you can't hope to please anyone. But oh well. I'll be downloading it later today when it hits PS3. And regardless of how good they are, again, I'm just thankful Bioware did something extra, and didn't charge you for it. And yet, a lot of people will be whining about this free shit they got. Complaining about the original ending in the game you paid for can be more understandable, but whining about this is just immature.

Can't wait to see what the community finds to bitch about this time...

Depends on how it is I guess.
