The Last Story official North American release date announced

According to an announcement today from publisher XSEED, Mistwalker's The Last Story will finally be making its way to North America later this Summer after an agonizing 18 month wait for fans waiting for it to be brought over from Japan.

The official release date, IGN learned is now set for August 14, 2012. The Last Story was directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the famed visionary designer of the Final Fantasy series. The Last Story doesn't have much to do with Final Fantasy however. Despite being a Japanese RPG, the two titles are quite dissimilar.

The Last Story features wide-ranging gameplay elements like some real-time strategy, stealth, and a cover system. It will be published by XSEED who have also published several other niche Japanese games in North America including Little King's Story and Rune Factory Frontier.

Can't speak for others but already Pre-Ordered. Was pre-ordered the second it was first announced and available on amazon a few months back. ........ tho I am sorta ashamed to admit I still havn't touched Xenogears ~.~ pre-ordered that too and its still sitting unopened on my backlog. No regrets there tho I will get around to playing it along with Last Story and they shall be awesome!

That's still in my backlog too. I'm really, really looking forward to giving it a spin. I'm just waiting for the JRPG craving to kick on in my brain. Then I'll GORGE.

Yeah, I hope so too. JRPGs are really getting a reputation boost from this new generation of Wii RPGs though. It's possible they could fight their way back to relevance among the hardcore community. Games like TLS and Xenoblade definitely have my attention, at least. And I'm not usually one to get into JRPGs.

Eh, with Final Fantasy JRPGs are still among the "hardcore" Community, we just need MORE

Its kinda fortunate that a lot of Japanese developers are giving the East a chance with localizing games recently.

I would say that I regret selling my Wii two years ago...but honestly JRPGs are pretty stale.

One of the best JRPG of this generation and a strong contender for GOTY for me. Been out over here in the UK for a few months now. I got it on release day and couldn't put it down. Its the game that final fantasy XIII should of been. Likeable well written characters wtha deep story, a brilliant setting. Great soundtrack, Fantastic graphics, great combat. Its got it all. Its proof that there is still room for proper innovation in JRPGS. IF you own a wii its a must buy. If you son't own a wii its the perfect excuse to get one again. You wont regret it.
