Insane man selling Final Fantasy collection for insane price of $15K

Look, we know a lot of people collect video games, and a lot of those people tend to think they can make a pretty good stack of cash from unloading it on eBay. But internet, we ask you, is this freakishly awesome Final Fantasy collection really worth $15,000?

Thai seller Undkodlor – whom is in good standing, feedback wise – is trying to do just that. His eBay sale includes more than the average amount of JRPG curios. Not only does the sale include original copies of I-XIII, but this is as close to a comprehensive collection of the venerated franchise as it gets. Spin-offs, rereleases, and even a bunch of branded consoles and handhelds are represented for your drooling pleasure.

Above: Pretty, but not that pretty

What’s it going to run you? Well, with 11 days left in the auction (which is an awfully long time), the seller is asking for a cool $14,900 USD for an opening bid. You may be surprised to learn that there isn’t a bid yet. Oh, wait. Maybe you won’t.

The retail value must be in the thousands.

If he can keep it in that condition, one day several years from now it will probably seem reasonable. Some of that stuff is rare and individual boxed copies of old Final Fantasy games for NES and especially those branded consoles would be worth over £100.

Hecould probably sell it all individually for a pretty high price if nobody is willing to cough up the cash for the entire collection. If I were him I'd never sell that. More FF stuff will be released in years to come, so he needs to keep that collection going! And then cram them all in his coffin with him when he dies. :)

It's mos def worth 15K, but nobody wants to spend that much. :P

If I had that kind of money I SURE WOULD...and if I could read Japanese

Maybe he accidentally hit an extra 0 when he was setting the original price.

Damn. Just yesterday i was thinking, "what am i gonna do with these extra 15 Gs i got lying around?" If i had known about this i wouldn't have foolishly invested in stocks.

My mate would pay double that. Biggest FF fanboy in the world. I gave up after 12.

Yeah, seems like he's really pushing it with this collection. I think if he really wanted to sell it all, he'd be doing each one seperately, or at least have a sane starting bid.

Looking at the size of the collection, the price he's asking may not be that far off from the actual value, depending on the condition of everything. Limited edition consoles on their own usually go for at least twice what the basic console costs (once they go out of print).

Gameguy94 I agree with you. I think he don't really want to sell this, but if there are someone can afford that price, he won't hesitate. I think he just want to try his luck. If it won't sell, he's fine with that. If there are some crazy peoples out there on the internet that see this is a reasonable price, who don't want to trade 40+ copies of game with 15k dollars? Anyway, I think I had seen this guy's collection before in one of Thai game forum (I'm also Thai). And to tell you the truth, this collection is insanely complete! He never miss even single remaster version of FF and its spin-off! If he take the price a little bit lower than that, I think I will go for the bid.

And to think, Final Fantasy 1 was supposed to be SquareSoft's swan song.

I actually really want this... But not enough for 15k.

    Greed-a-lox!
  • 8bitBaby - May 25, 2011 12:12 a.m.

i wonder why he's selling all of a sudden. and why all at once when he could sell all the pieces to different buyers. ah well.
  • PimplesInYourAsstista - May 25, 2011 12:09 a.m.

    WHADDYA BUYIN'? Not this.
  • TheRealGuitarHero - May 25, 2011 12:07 a.m.

If NYTHING, I'd say it's worth a couple hundred. But 15K? WTFuck?
  • MattCrinos - May 24, 2011 11:33 p.m.

I wouldn't sell them, if it were me. I thought I had a decent collection just by owning every game - how wrong I am. ReCAPTCHA = VII ewater

If I won the lottery, yes. Otherwise, absolutely not.
