Infamous 2: Festival of Blood trailer promises dark days ahead for New Marais

When Red Dead Redemption gave us its zombie-themed Undead Nightmare expansion last year, we hoped it might spark a trend – and after today’s announcement of the InFamous 2: Festival of Blood DLC, it seems developer Sucker Punch has been thinking along the same lines. Trading zombies for vampires, the standalone DLC (due out this October, and apparently playable without a copy of InFamous 2) sees New Marais overrun by bloodsuckers, who then bite Cole. The reveal was accompanied by a moody new trailer, which you can watch below.

According to Sucker Punch, Cole has one night to destroy the vampiric infection by killing the “head vampire,” something that will probably require the use of the new, cross-shaped weapon he’s wearing in place of his Amp in the trailer. It’s not clear at this point whether it’ll be a continuation of InFamous 2’s story, a “lost chapter” set somewhere in the middle or just a Halloween-themed “what if?” scenario, but if you’re hungry for more Cole action and the user-generated content just isn’t enough, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for this one.

WARNING!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED GOOD ENDING OF INFAMOUS 2!!!! What if this is the answer? What if this is how he's going to come back to life? Or is it just Zeke dreaming after eating week old pizza?..

It sounds like you don't need an inFamous save, not an inFamous game. Like this could be a totally separate option other than playing the game. I don't know, it's really vague

How could this day get any better?!

Vampires... now that's just down right silly.

@TheHungryLemur It looks like you won't need InFamous 2 to play the DLC (unless I'm grossly misinterpreting Sucker Punch's statement), so it's probably a moot point.

So infamous is a dracula now? Cool!

It's a slight shame I traded in Infamous 2 early after completing both sides. Didn't think it would go any further. User-Created Missions were a drag and the whole thing seemed to repeat itself after the Main Campaign Missions. Personally I regret selling it back at such a low price but I don't think it was worth keeping. This does look sweet though.

At least this one is getting some DLC. InFamous 1 should've had DLC and it did just some stupid energy blades. This looks really cool and who doesn't like kickin the shit out of the undead?
  • Zeb364 - August 17, 2011 12:05 a.m.

I'm not sure about the content (although it would be great to see a Pattison-esque vamp you could kick the shit out of) but I totally get why it's stand alone. Their clearly hoping people will try it, like it, and go out to buy inFamous 2 because I don't think it sold like they expected. I hope that's exactly what happens too because it's a fantastic game that deserved better and needs a sequel but it was shipped at the worst possible time (the frist day of E3...REALLY?!).
