How Relic is making Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine more “cinematic”

Why making movies and games might not be so different

With all the highfalutin' talk about whether games should or shouldn't aim toward being “cinematic,” it's nice to hear Relic come right out the gate and say it: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine should feel like a “movie you can play.” And why not? There are worse things to emulate than the default visual language of our age. As the guys behind the game stress, though, making a game “cinematic” doesn't have to mean “filling it with cutscenes.” While this trailer's big on cinematic clips, it's also all about reassuring you that the title's big moments will be ones of player choice and action.
