What about the blue turtle suit from NSMB on DS? Sure, it looked like a hammer suit, but being able to slide like a Koopa shell was awesome, and the penguin suit didn't rebound!

This makes me sad...I really want another sunshine.

That picture on slide 27 is amazing. I especially love the nod to the early Mario outfits. I remember getting annoyed when I was a kid because they consistently fucked up Mario's looks in the instruction books for all 3 NES Mario games.

Good list, but about half way through I thought that you may as well have just gone the whole hog and listed all of Mario's power ups, rather than his specific costume. You're only missing a couple and your definition of "costume" is quite arbitrary (Metal, Gold and Boo Mario aren't really "costumes", they change his actual state of being, and wearing a cape is hardly a massive change). I mean, regardless of what power-up he's using, he's still wearing some sort of costume, even if it is just his overalls. You may as well have had a list focusing on the actual power-granting item instead, and THEN the effect it has on Mario's appearance/abilities. That way you could've included things like Superball Mario, Kuribo's Shoe, Invincible Mario and Mega Mario whilst also keeping the costumes (which would be attributed to the Super Leaf, Bee Mushroom, Frog Suit etc.) But that's just being a little nitpicky, haha. I know that you were ultimately trying to lead into Cat Mario, but still. They'll all under of the larger umbrella of Mario transformations. Except FLUDD. That doesn't really count under either definition.

We gotta save something for the sequel ;) Also, I contend that FLUDD is a costume, mainly due to Mario's short sleeves in Sunshine. Really FLUDD is just an accessory to his summer fashion

These power ups were amazing and it adds nice gameplay elements especially when based around it. I see you forgot to mention other power ups that were otherwise in said pictures, but i guess your going for the main ones. Also, an interesting screenshot for 3D World shows a rolling Pink shell. Considering each character will gets a color scheme of said power up, Boomerang Peach's shell should be Pink, but last i checked, Boomerang Mario couldnt roll around, so either its a new feature, Shell Power up is back, or its just a simple Pink Shell, Also screenshots and the video show levels based on a goddamn Japanese Temple, 3D World is really kicking its butt in creativity, right up there with Galaxy. http://www.mariowiki.com/images/9/98/WiiU_SM3DW_10.15.13_Scrn26.png

The hammer suit will appear in Super Mario 3D World, it was shown briefly in the most recent trailer! One of my favorite suits.

It hasnt actually. Thats the BOOMERANG Suit thats returning, unless you saw something else?
  • Kingery2011 - October 21, 2013 3:24 p.m.

I just watched the trailer again and see now that he threw a boomerang. Dang it. My mind just wanted me to believe it was a hammer. That's alright. The boomerang suit is awesome too.
