Heavy Rain movie nabs Deadwood writer

The Heavy Rain movie has picked up a heavyweight writer. Unique Features film studio has signed on David Milch of Deadwood and Hill Street Blues fame to adapt Quantic Dream's experimental game for the big screen.

Milch, whose writing resume also includes work on NYPD Blue and the short-lived series John from Cincinnati, will pen the movie adaption once production wraps on the first season of his new HBO show, Luck. As previously announced, the movie will be produced by ex-New Line Studio heads Bob Shaye and Michael Lynn under their Unique Features banner.

Pleased with their acquisition of Milch, Shaye said, "David Milch's incredible ability to transform intense and complex storylines into gripping, popular drama makes him the perfect partner for us to have on Heavy Rain."

Quantic Dream's original script for Heavy Rain ran almost 2000 pages long, and encompassed a slew of alternative plot paths and endings. Picking one linear storyline kind of defeats the whole point of Heavy Rain's existence, but unless movie theatres can equip gesture-based controls, we'll just have to hope Milch chooses right. On the plus side, at least the sex scenes won't creep us out.

Cool. Also, I hope they hire ACTUAL American actors in the movie...

This movie needs French child actors, otherwise it just won't feel like Heeeeavy Rain.

@Clovin64 I agree completely. I don't want a good movie, I want another "the Room."

Well, since the actual game was kind of a movie to begin with, this seems both reasonable, and redundant at the same time.

Wow... a good writer involved with something related to Heavy Rain? Still a pointless production.

Wow, an even more pointless adaptation than Uncharted.
