Gorgeous Metal Gear Solid 4 shots

Wednesday 10 May 2006
Konami blew us away with the showing of its new Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots trailer at its E3 press conference yesterday and now we've successfully captured some glorious high-res stills from the movie.

The setting isn’t very different from the original MGS4 trailer debuted at Tokyo Game Show 2005, but the increase in visual quality is definitely noticeable. The trailer also provides a first look at the PS3 versions of most of the game’s pivotal cast members.

Otacon looks much like he did in the TGS teaser, and we finally get to see Solid Snake’s old flame from MGS1, Meryl Silverburgh, back in action. Colonel Roy Campbell, Dr. Naomi Hunter and Revolver Ocelot/Liquid Snake are also accounted for.

Then there’s Raiden. The much-hated, often-lampooned (even by Kojima himself) pretty-boy from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty makes his debut in stunning fashion, single-handedly taking down several of the game’s new, smaller Metal Gear models.

Kojima promised fans that they’d think MGS4’ s Raiden was a badass when they saw him, and we think you’ll agree that he wasn’t kidding. Raiden is outfitted with high-tech armour reminiscent of the cyborg ninja in MGS1 and MGS2 - only cooler. It’s also obvious that he’s become very fond of swords - his main weapon in the trailer is a Japanese katana.

So, check out the screens and don't forget that you can see the amazing trailer for yourself by visiting Konami's web site.
