Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford joins Ken Levine in latest Irrational Interview

On the subject of cashing-in versus making games with passion, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford says, "It's kind of like when you meet a girl - 'Would I do her or not?' You can make that decision in five seconds, and the customer's going to do the same thing. 'Are they just trying to monetize me, or are they offering me real value?'"

That's the sort of no-nonsense banter (read that in a '20s radio voice, please) you'll hear in the latest episode of Irrational Interviews, in which BioShock director Ken Levine gets talky with other industry moguls. This episode features Gearbox's Randy Pitchford, and topics ranging from the reveals of Duke Nukem Forever and Bioshock Infinite to the future of gaming.

It's always a joy to hear industry leaders get together and talk about the hobby we love, and it's especially a joy when they use phrases like "would I do her" as metaphors for judging games. Head over to Irrational's site to listen to the latest episode.

This was a beauty. As someone with a game development degree, this was a real treat. Thanks for the heads up, Tyler. Great catch.

Cliffy B would brake the mood. Dude makes great games, but is a complete child.

The only thing that could make this even more foul mouthed would be Cliffy B and the Bulletstorm devs

Two of the smartest guys in game design, right there. Also two of the most foul-mouthed. Coincidence? I think no... well, probably yeah.

Maybe I already have. Maybe I have. I have. Have. Maybe.
