"Soon" is my favorite ridiculous, made up game marketing term. It is the answer to every question gamers have about the development of features promised yet not delivered from gaming companies. Not we can't get it to work or we changed our minds, just soon. Often soon never comes.

Lol. The word Drivatar has been around since at least Forza 1. Anybody who's familiar with the Forza series knows the word.

Fun fact: Being old doesn't make lame bullshit marketing terms less shitty.

It's still a dumb word. Say it out loud. Use it in a sentence. You'll see.

What about "next-gen"? How can that even be such a thing when there's such a multitude of platforms of varying shapes, sizes, and builds that all use different tech? Not to mention it's an irrelevant term considering PC doesn't have a gen, unless you're going by iterations of video card/cpu releases. In that case there's a new gen every 6 months.

Because each of them are released around similar times? A generation of people aren't necessarily identical, but they are still a generation. And the term refers to consoles, not PCs, so they don't matter when talking about generations.

They only come out about the same time because they don't want to lose money to the competition. The biggest problem with the word is proven really well with this generation, which is that there seems to be no required progress of the new console over the former generation (at least not significant). Making it as big a BS marketing trick, as those on this list, as some of them actually represent progress, just not as much as they want you to think.

"Next generation" is an excellent marker for chronologically recording gaming history.
  • J-Fid - December 4, 2013 8:30 p.m.

Blast Processing is easily the coolest one here.

I hate "Kinect" with every fiber of my being
  • Xtapolapopotamus - December 4, 2013 2:04 p.m.

That Ben Franklin quote nearly made me spit up food all over my laptop. That's the highest praise I can give an article, by the way.

Because poor literacy is; kewl, hip, modern, and makes for cringe worthy news bait.
