Gamescom final round-up. What impressed us most?

Gamescom is finally over and we're getting ready to fly home from Deutschland. But not before we gather around in front of the camera and discuss the games that most impressed us. Can PC Gamer's Owen Hill go a minute without mentioning the Oculus Rift? Can James Jarvis finish his sentence without being interrupted by a Final Fantasy pun? Find out now!

I just hope to god Justin Towell isnt going to responsible or have any hand in the review for Blops 2. His apparent boredom and just "i dont give a fuck" attitude toward the game is very apparent. We know you dont care. We know you like to be cool with your little underrated, unknown games. We know your too cool to like call of duty. But some of us still do. So drop the fucking attitude.

I'm not a diehard COD fan or hater either and while I could sort of see that attitude towards the game, you sound like you are playing it up a bit. He basically stated that it's just a polished version of the last game. Which, um, pretty much sounds like every COD to me, beyond COD4 (The only one that really innovated imo). Perhaps you should stop with the diehard Call of Duty fan viewpoint and maybe take his opinion as what it is: If you love Call of Duty, then this one will be even better, but don't expect anything too new. It's hard to be excited about something that's really just a more polished version of the last one. I don't really see a whole lot of value between MW2 and MW3 and trust me, I love the COD series, but man, new releases aren't all that exciting anymore.

Its not just this video. Its all of the gamescom videos. He just has that "meh" attitude. Which is fine if thats honestly his opinion. It just pisses me off. I LIKE call of duty. I mean, Im not a super fan that fuckin prestiges up to level 10 in every game. I only own two cods, mw2 and black ops. But its still very fun to me. I DO get excited about the new features. Its everywhere I go online, people just bitch because CoD makes so much money and is so popular and people LOVE to hate on whatever is popular at the time. Its so fucking cliche...

Hey, come on don't be sad - it's OK I don't hate CoD! I happen to think CoD4 is the best FPS ever made. That's hardly hate. But I am starting to wonder what more can possibly done to the formula, which is why I'm finding it hard to get excited about it. Sure they've got the e-sports stuff which looks great and the new 'Pick 10' system looks super-balanced, but beyond that, it's still shooting men with guns. Very slick, very playable, but essentially the same game you've been playing for... what... six years now? It's not hate, just that there are so many other games that deserve attention too, and excited me more.

I like the formula. Its like video game crack. Its very addicting. I dont need some super original game to come every month to get me excited. I KNOW how CoD plays, so I KNOW the next CoD I buy, I'll enjoy. They change just enough to keep me excited. So, thats why I say I hope you dont have a hand in the review in any way, because your "meh" attitude is written all over your face.

Damn, James, get that twitch fixed! Nice comments all around. Everything is looking great, but I wonder if the Oculus Rift is anything to sneeze at....

I just like going around gaming media, finding all the ways Justin can crowbar shit jokes into everything. Yh, no one 'serious' cares about BO2, so wheel on Ni No Kuni.

Towell, at one point, did you say about Black Ops 2 "This time, it's all about the multiplayer"? Because, so far, it's been SO much about the campaign?
  • GR_JustinTowell - August 18, 2012 2:14 p.m.

I did say that, but I mean the only thing they talked about in my appointment was the multiplayer. I forgot to mention here that the egames stuff looks good... although that's also multiplayer. See? All multiplayer.
