Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn crafting guide

Crafting in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a great way to obtain items and earn experience points, but getting started can be tricky. We've told you what we think of the game in our Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn review, but now we're going to get down the nitty gritty of synthesizing items. It's a matter of obtaining crafting tools, learning to use them, and finding ingredients. We're going to show you how it's done.

This guide is looking pretty empty. But I'll leave you with the most important things I've learned: -When crafting, always try to make high quality stuff. If you can, buy or make high quality tools and clothing. If you attempt to make high quality goods, you gain about triple XP. At a certain point, you'll get a skill that lets you craft fast, but it's not worth using it in the long run. XP gain seems to be tied to how many steps you took making goods, so you'll want to use abilities that cause you to take as many turns as possible. -If you're using Levequests to help level crafting, always make sure you turn in high quality goods, as the XP gains from the one quest can be 1/4 to 1/2 of a crafting level, instead of 1/20 to 1/10. Basically, if the quest gives you a base 9000xp, you'll get a bonus of near 20000xp extra if the item(s) are all high quality. -Level up every crafting discipline to 15 in order to get all the cross class abilities. Getting to level 15 is easy and can usually be done entirely by shopping for materials. From level 15 on, it gets harder. If I knew when I started what I know now, I wouldn't have had to spend a few hours actively farming out crystals.

Hence the "work in progress" blurb, but thank you for your tips!
