Pobably the only intelligent thing that man has ever said. Although the Prince of Persia movie was still better than any of the Resi movies IMO.

"we're choosing to tell slightly different stories" - read: "We've taken an existing complex but coherent story and completely fucked off with it." But you know what? I did kind of enjoy the first 2 films - I was willing to accept it had taken a different direction and I even thought the third was ok. Afterlife just completely made me sick. I still can't quite believe it was ever made, just everything about it was wrong. And why the hell was Albert Wesker turned into Agent Smith for the Matrix? In fact, the film should have been called the Matrix 4 for all it ripped off. You know a film is terrible when the only redeeming feature is 10 seconds of Sienna Guillory's (Jill Valentine) cleavage. Which makes it all the worse now that I know Anderson has actually played the game and claims to be a fan. I'm calling bullshit on that. I hated Resident Evil: Afterlife so much that it made me hate Resident Evil.

I have a feeling that if a Halo game was made.. there would be no problem about reading up on the game and playing it. The producers would know that there is a huuuuge amount of people willing to watch it if it made well within the universe of Halo. Unfortunately I get the feeling that all the halo fanboys would flock to the cinema at the sight of "halo" even if it was just as badly made as Resi or POP.

I have found every movie this w*nker has made, insulting to the source material. He RUINED Street Fighter to the point where everyone tries to forget it and remember the Manga version but good lord how could you get probably the most anticipated movie of arguably the most iconic video game of our time SO WRONG!?!?!?!?!? N now u claim u played the games!?!?!?!?!?!? I would laugh at such a farce of comments but your movies speak for themselves.

Doom was a terible movie. No monsters from hell, they pretty much turned it into a zombie movie a terrible one at best. Only redeemable factor was The Rock.

"I think it's disrespectful to the medium, and it's disrespectful to the original source material, and ultimately, it doesn't make the best movie." Um... sure he's played the games, but his RE movies still suck ass...

It's odd that anderson is talking like this, as he has bastardized Resident Evil a hell of alot, leaving aside the science of the game and the canon itself. It' sokay to make a divergent story from the games, but the moment you put those characters from the games in, it starts to break the canon and change the timeline. I think it was the commentary in Extinction where he stated that he wanted Alice to have psychic powers like he saw in Code Veronica....odd thing is, there was never anything close or related to psychic powers in that game.

Anderson didn't make Street Fighter or Super Mario Brothers. He's only been involved in the first Mortal Kombat movie and the Resident Evil franchise (Alien Versus Predator as well if you're willing to stretch it).

"Disrespectful"...giving away the rights, accepting a script and doing it all for the sweet chance to earn a lot of $$$ is what is disrespectful.

Uwe Boll didn't get the "Play-the-damn-game" memo.
  • shadowreaper72 - November 6, 2010 2:21 a.m.

    P.S to the PoP film WORST.GAME FILM.EVER.
  • shadowreaper72 - November 6, 2010 2:20 a.m.

Its great that there is at least one movie director out in hollywood who actually respect games. I support this guy all the way, and whats with the hate for all his movies? Ive never seen the Dead of Alive or Smash bro film but I thought the resident evil(except the first one),street fighter and mortal kombat films were pretty awesome! Especially the Mortal Kombat films. Those movies were the shit!
  • NotBraze - November 6, 2010 1:52 a.m.

Anderson definitely has a great point, but the point is lost behind the person presenting it. Anderson, it's great that you respect games, but your movies are awful. Mike Newell may not have played Prince of Persia but he still made a half-decent movie, granted it was only half-decent, but that's still far superior than any of your outings. Credibility is everything, and I'm sorry Anderson, but you are by no means credible for giving advice on film making.

Kinda been my idea behind it the whole time. Why bother attempting to make a movie about something which you know nothing of? Its like trying to make a porno without knowing what Sex is.
  • ventanger - November 6, 2010 1:31 a.m.

This would make sense coming from ANYONE ELSE. IF, and I stress, IF, Paul S Anderson played the Resident Evil games, it was only to find out the names of the characters who would be absolutely f'ing useless cardboard cutouts to be tossed aside by his spoiled trophy wife. YOU HACK

I guess "Do as he says, not what he does?" This whole article makes me feel very conflicted.
  • Lolspamm0r - November 6, 2010 1:14 a.m.

You really couldn't tell that he has played the games... also, first?
  • gamingfreak - November 6, 2010 1:13 a.m.

I don't know if Anderson knows this but his movie's aren't exactly amazing adaptions ether.
